IOA 12/26/00

Well, I finally made it out to IOA this Christmas, and had a great time. The lines were very short all day, and since my dad didn't care about waiting in the singles lines all day, our longest wait was 15 minutes.

First thing we rode was Hulk, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I knew it was a launched lift hill, but I didn't know when they launched, so when I first got hit with that, it was quite a surprise, and a great way to start a ride. Loved the whole ride, but it isn't as intense after the launch as it needs to be...but still a fantastic coaster.

Made our way over to Spiderman and waited 3 minutes in the singles line. What an awesome ride. I definitely have to credit this as the best dark ride I've been on. I loved this thing. Very innovative and exciting.

Walked through the toon land type area and watched Ripsaw Falls. Would have liked to have gone on it, but it was a little cold and I didn't feel like taking a shower. Instead, we went over to Jurrassic Park and rode the river ride, which was decent. After that, we went over to Dueling Dragons. My dad couldn't fit in the seat, so I just went by myself. I waited 15 minutes for the front seat on Ice (wanted to have the wall effect in the cobra roll). I was really impressed with these 2 coasters. Both are pretty small but very intense. I love the near collisions with the other train, especially the first one, with the inline twist under the hump. When I got off Ice, I felt the blood pooling in my feet. It was great! Ran over to the reentrance for Fire and rode Fire in the last seat, and was up the lift hill 2 minutes after getting off Ice. Fire was fantastic, and the first drop really whipped me around. The immelman into the helix was awesome. I think I liked Fire a little more, but both were great. Very impressed. The queue was also the best I've ever been in.

Ate lunch then rode both dragons again. Went over to Poseidon's Fury, which I thought was great
Sounds like you had a great time, but it's a shame that you missed Dudly Doo Rights Rip Saw Falls. In my opinion it is one of the best non coaster rides in the park and is certainly one of the best flumes in the country. This is because as it drops, it gets steeper just when you think it should flatten out, then goes underground, and pops back up giving you lots of airtime. But, if it was cold, it was probably best to skip it because it is a major soaker. Maybe Next time.
Ahhh, sounds like you had a great day at IOA. I was there two days before you were, on the 24th. No lines the whole time we were there (five days total) and I was loving every minute of it. I agree, Dueling Dragons are the most incredible single attraction. Both coasters are distinctly different and exciting, Ice just has a bad ending, but the rest is excellent. Fire is amazing the whole way though, it really takes control. Spiderman is also my fav dark ride, Bluto's is my fav rapids, Dudley my fav flume...I could go on and on for days! :) It's weird that you like PT at CP over Doom, I think Doom's airtime at the top is FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR more forceful that PT's. PT's is higher and you get one helluva view, but there is barely any lift at the top. Doom's shot is great and then you get massive airtime at the top. Really a great ride.

Again, glad you had such a good time at my favorite park!

SFGAm: Twice the fun in 2001 (hint, hint)!

Sounds like you had fun, but what I don't get is that you skipped Dudleu Doo Rights Rip Saw Falls to go on Jurassic Park?? Don't you get more wet on Jurassic Park?? Well anyways, sounds like you had a good time.

"4 Seats are better than 2"
Naw...I got a splash in the face on JP. Literally, all I had to do was wipe my eyes. The people coming off RipSaw falls were completely drenched. Had it been warmer, I'd definitely have gone on it...it was just a tad too cold, and I was wearing jeans. Didn't want to have to walk around in soaked jeans for a few hours. Yuck.

No way, half the fun is getting soaked. One of the best times I had there was when it poured all day.We got to ride Hulk in the rain. That was the best. But i guess if it was that cold it wouldnt be to fun.
