Interview with Walter Bolliger

Bolliger wants people to get off SheiKra with smiles on their faces. Passengers on wooden coasters have a different feeling when they get off, he said. ``They feel brave that they survived, but never want to go on the ride again.''

Not THIS passenger on wooden coasters!

I have yet to ride ANYTHING by the hyped B&M that I like better than even my lowest rated woodie!

Admitedly, I haven't had the chance to ride a B&M hyper or dive machine yet, so maybe that will change.

Their floorless and standups are pretty fun, but I still prefer every woodie I've ever ridden over all of them that I've ridden!

My interest in the flyer dwindled after the "gimmick" and "novelty" of the riding position wore off. The pretzel loop just pulls too many positive g's for it to be a "marathonable" ride for me.

As for B:TR, sure it's a "smoother" multilooper than Arrows or Vekomas, but the blackout-inducing high positive g's, tedious "one inversion after another" pacing, and total lack of airtime does nothing for me whatsoever, especially compared to airtime-filled, drop-filled, woodies and hypers!

Again, after the "gimmick" of the riding position wears off, BTR is a coaster I quickly lose interest in!

I guess the bottom line is different people have different taste, so his statement here about "what people feel about wood" is a bit of a HUGE generalization IMO!

I would take a DROP-oriented ride with AIRTIME and LAP BAR restraints, (even if that ride has "shuffle" and "roughness") ANY DAY over an inversion-oriented ride with positive g's and OTSR's like most B&M's are!

For me, it's ALL about drops, airtime, and lap bars, Walter ;)

Just my opinion based on my own taste in rides :)

Frontrider - of course he's gonna downplay wooden coasters...they're the competition!
My wife and I prefer a smooth ride but once in a while we like it rough just for a change of pace.

Hmmm...that doesn't sound right.

B&M: BEST coaters on the PLANET.

I just like a good ride experience, period! Either wood or steel, it doesn't matter. But...I do believe that B&M are consistently the best when it comes to their overall design catalogue.
