Internet programmers, why are parts of the CP hompeage invisible?

I get that same problem on the non-lite version on Firefox in Linux. Probably has something to do with the Flash Version.

Lite version works, and I'm sure I'm of a small minority, so I deal with it.

I did my homework and found there was no Firefox for OS9, or else I would have suggested that first :)

OK, so the upshot is you need a DVD-ROM that works on OS9. What drive do you have now?

Tiger's only on DVD, but I'm pretty sure you can get Panther on CD. You could upgrade to Panther first, then go to Tiger.

Panther and Tiger support any ol' offbrand DVD-ROM drive; I've yanked DVD burners out of my PC's and put 'em in my Macs -- and vice versa -- and they just plain work. (Apple uses standard Pioneer, Hitachi, and Panasonic drives.)

I'm surprised OS9 doesn't. Not saying you're wrong (because OS9 disk drivers were kinda mutant), just that it's weird :)

If we're talking Firewire DVD drives, then things get more complicated, but on a Power Mac G4 it's a lot cheaper/simpler to just replace the internal drive. Grab a Pioneer DVR-111D from anywhere, they're only $38 or so. *** Edited 6/4/2006 5:06:39 PM UTC by bit0mike***

This is what I love about Macs... there's no bull**** to deal with like on Windoze.
I probably bought one of the last lines of Power PCs that didn't come with DVD-ROM drives (the Digital Audio series). I've still got room under my CD-ROM drive to put one in. I've got to take it in for service anyway while I'm on vacation. Thanks for the information everyone.

pkidelerium, thanks for the link. It helped me some as I got the top of the page graphics and the picture of the show. Interestingly enough, the .gifs are now at the bottom of the page and not the top. There's still a weird issue where I cannot scroll over without it immediately snapping back to the left. Naturally, this is where all the links are, and the only one I can click on is the copyright link which is first.

You know what would solve it? Switch to Firefox. I hear they have a great version for OS9. ;)
I'll have to admit that like so many others I've gotten trapped into the "Microsoft way is the only way" approach to doing things. I've been using Explorer for so long that I forgot about my first browser. It still resides on my desktop and I think I have the last version of it for OS9 and that would be Netscape 6.2 .

When I selected the graphics lite version in 6.2, everything loaded properly, all the graphics were in the right location etc. It's kind of ironic to me that everyone kept yelling Firefox when Netscape got'r'done.

The only bad thing that happened was that when I went to the site map and attempted to load the Geauaga Lake site, the computer froze. This may have nothing to do with the browser though, and everything to do with why I'm taking it in for service.

A true nerd knows that Mozilla came from Netscape.

A true nerd wouldn't be taking his computer in for service- he'd fix it himself. ;)

It's easier to just replace that drive instead of adding a second one. That way you don't have to get a second set of mounting brackets.

It's easy enough that you shouldn't need to take it in anywhere -- if you spend more than $50 to get a dual-layer DVD burner in it, something's wrong. :) Most of your freezes should go away with OSX unless you really have a hardware problem.

The G4 isn't an old machine, heck, I'm running a 1.67 G4 PB right now (although your's is probably around 1ghz). I think staying away from OSX right now till you get more money is a great idea, but if you need OS9 apps even after you switch, get a G5 now, the new Intel machines don't run Classic.

Four years is pretty old in computer years!

My computer I use now I got as a b-day present back in 2001!

It's is a "Cutting Edge" Dell with a Pentium 4 processor. I've since upgraded it with windows XP and it works absolutely fine, and theres nothing such as websites that don't work properly. I guess I'm just lucky! The only thing it isn't good for is RCT3 because the processor isn't fast enough but other than that it's fine.

Arent they automating the rides on the home page anymore?
I wish was running at 1Ghz. Try 466mhz (which sounds slow in PC terms, but in Mac is much faster). It's all I could afford because it was being discontinued. Back then, it was around $1200, not including the monitor. I think the fartherest I could push the machine with an accelerator board would be somewhere around 970-something.

Some people have said it's not worth the effort because it wouldn't solve the backside cache problem. I currently have 1mb. Apparently, the newer machines have a much bigger backside cache. I also only have 768mb of RAM (the most you can have). With the newer machines, I'm told I should probably get at least 2GB, if not more because of all the virtual instruments and plug-ins I run in Logic. I'm kind of tired of freezing and re-freezing instruments all the time so that would be nice.

All this points to another reason why next week's coaster oddessy 06' may be the last one for sometime.

Is the home page still animated or not? My cp home page isn't animated anymore.
Yes, it's still animated. Give it a few seconds to load up.
