International Disneylands

Bruno....I can't quote you an exact number, but if you play your cards right with the airfare you can actually pull off a 4-5 day TDR trip for around what many familes spend on a week long WDW trip with airfare, admission, and a nice hotel room. (Not the budget resorts)

VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (as Borat would say it)

I'm huge Disney nut myself. Today I discovered a web site called Soundsofmagic.com and it's amazing. Has most music from the Disney parks and even the music from the fountain at EPCOT.

I will be doing a Walt Disney World internship at the end of August and I can't wait. Learning about my favorite company and free unlimited admission for 4 months. I saw this chance and I could not pass it up.

When I'm done I think it will be time to experience the parks outside the U.S.

I have seen interviews where imagineers state that disney sea is their favorite. so if the imagineers themselves are stating its their favorite then you know its the best.

Ps how hard is it to get around disneyland and disney sea in japan? do you need a guide who knows japanese to get around? *** Edited 6/4/2007 3:04:49 AM UTC by majortom1981***

It's no surprise too....I think it's the result of the one time they truely got to stretch their wings so to speak and be as fully creative, expresive, and detail oriented as they always wanted to be. Most other times they often operate with monetary and creative handcuffs on. The park they designed was the park that was built.

If you look at the early concept art for Epcot, Animal Kingdom, etc, the park that was really build looks almost lame by comparison as budgets got everything scaled WAY down by construction time. TDS looks exactly like it's early concept art. :) *** Edited 6/4/2007 3:51:32 AM UTC by Peabody***

Super easy. I knew like 10 words and that was it. You can always find a cast member who speaks English.

What Peabody said -- you don't need to know Japanese to get around the Tokyo Disney parks. Knowing a little Japanese helps if you venture out towards more distant parks, but if you're just hitting the Disney properties, you shouldn't need to know Japanese.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

I have a good one for you. You know how much WDI charged Disneyland Paris for the new "Crush Coaster" at Walt Disney Studios? 50 millions. All that for a standard Maurer Sohne spinning coaster in a box with 3 projection effects and in addition, a short lift, small drop outside and a 30 seconds "dark ride" portion. I guess we now know how the Walt Disney Company is getting their royalties from them...
I visited Disneyland Paris 13 months ago. My impression was that the park had all the right attractions, but the attitude of local staff was not the same as Disney World in Florida. DLP staff were rude and certainly did not go out of their way to enhance guest experiences (like Parisians in general). Operations were sloppy -- only 2 of 10 (?) FastPass machines worked at Space Mountain, and the FastPass Return line jutted around the side of the building where line-cutting was not only common, but witnessed by staff and never addressed.

Unlike other enthusiasts, I loved Space Mountain: Mission 2. The daylight to virtual darkness launch, a couple inversions, planet fly-by's, projections of moving stars and spinning galaxies, and a booming sound system --- nice ride. It beats both NA versions of Space Mountain, hands down.

The Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is visually impressive, but the ride is not very exciting.

Big Thunder Mountain is slightly different at each park. The under-water tunnel at Disneyland Paris is the only significant difference. But the mine theme is well-executed everywhere.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland Paris is the most impressive I have seen. The original Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland is a bit disappointing. It's so small you have to get up close to see it. The castle is not a landmark you can see throughout the park, unlike Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Paris.
