Interesting Shockwave Photos

http://www.angelfire.com/mn/cwsr/shock.html

These are the first construction pics of Shockwave that I came across so I thought I might share them. By the way, Anyone know when the tops of the vertical loops were replaced to add more support?

The tops of the vertical loops have never been replaced. The white supports were added after the only tops of the loops were assembled. That was a really nice day when I was watching them put it together.

Sorry, I should have made myself more specific. What I meant was the trackage was replaced, not the actual white supports. See the difference.

http://www.coastergallery.com/1999/SFGA20.html vs. http://www.angelfire.com/mn/cwsr/021788.html (second picture) There is more ties at the top of the vertical loops now than there were when Shockwave first started out.

Great pics! Shockwave is a great coaster, it may be rough sometimes but, it will always be in my top ten list!
You Know what....I noticed he same thing on Viper. I wanted to make a topic about that.
Yeah...you mean the "ribbed" track? Where they add additional ties in between the spine and rails?

At the Coasting America site, the 1999 pics of Shockwave, for what I can tell from the pixelated pics, shows the extra-ties track on top of the loops. I never payed attention enough to notice that the track was different until next year, but thanks to CA, we know that it was changed before 1999.

Snoopy Rocks! On Ice opens on June 22nd

Think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?

Oh man, do those pics bring back the memories. At that time I was 16 and lived within spitting distance of the park. I used to drive into the parking lot just watching the construction of this monster. This was a big deal back then. (Tallest steel coaster, fastest steel coaster, most inversions.)

The extra support was added sometime in the early-mid 90's if I remember correctly. I know they were there in '96, but don't see them in my photos from '91.
