Or if you want to get REALLY technical, we saw Box Track and the Triangle Track back in 1978 with the debut of Shock Wave at Six Flags over Texas and Mind Bender at Six Flags over Georgia. Intamin's box track is just a 2nd generation Schwarzkopf Box Track.

I don't know about Shockwave, but Bender has no 3-point track. It;s really not quite the same. There is a noticeable difference in the size and placement of struts. The Schwarzkopf track needs pretty routine maintenance on it. Looks like the Intamin track is heftier. But yeah, I guess you could say one led to the other.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

On Shock Wave, it has Triangle Track as Transfer Track. The rest of the ride is box track, but I guess that Intamin saw that and how few supports are on it, and made their own similar version.
