Intamin Stand-ups

I was on RCDB when I saw some Intamin Stand-ups!  They look spectacular, I could easily mistake one for a B&M, has anybody ridden one or heard if they compare to B&M's?

There isn't a problem that can't be solved.

Suicide is NOT a solution!

There pretty rare. Batman The escape at SFAW is the one most know about. They look like B&M's becuase B&M desinged them!

SFMM line cutters are the braviest in the world.
B&M designed them? Thats a lie, seriously... look up the date on Shockwave in England... As far as I know, B&M was on their own at that time, unless if they didn't build Iron Wolf on their own!

No, but Intamin owned the rights to the train design, track design, etc etc etc. One of the lovely perks you give up when you get a paycheck is ownership of your work. Hence it doesn't sem to be much of a stretch to have many parts be B&M designed, with someone else doing the actual track layout, does it?
What's more, Giovanola manufactured the track - it has the V-shaped ties.

Check out Track Spotting 101 for descriptions. (For the newbies.)

B&M worked for intamin at the time when intamin standups were popular...hence the reason they look so much like B&M's...and intamin still markets its stand up because they own all B&M work done while B&M was employed with them....
Please Help, I live in Orlando and just got word of the Show here, can anyone give me info of where it is and when?

I became hooked on coasters this past July 4th when my absolutely beautiful fiance took me on the Hulk at Islands of adventure and then onto the dueling dragons and since then riden Kracken, Kumba, Montu, Millenuim Force, All of them at Cedar Point, I would love to ride them all!

But I would love to attend this show that is here the next two days, anyone give me a contact of who I can call for more info, anything will help, thanks RAY

Back to the original question...

I've ridden both Shockwave at Drayton Manor Park in the UK, and Batman: The Escape at Astroworld. I believe these are the only Intamin standups although I might be wrong.

Shockwave is very short, but relatively smooth. It features the only In-line spiral/twist on a standup and that part of the ride is awesome. The double corkscrew's can be a little rough on the shoulders if you don't hold on. Considering I'm not the biggest fan of standups, I think the ride is quite good - a lot more intense than a B&M standup.

Batman: The Escape is a pile of rust and is very rough, although not as bad as a TOGO standup. It's quite compact and only features one inversion. It is probably rough due to its poor condition and the fact that it contains several bad transitions, whereas Shockwave doesn't have too many twists and turns and is well maintained.

So you're saying B&M, even though not employed by Intamin, did design Shockwave? Doubt it. Coasters, unless cookie cutters (which Shockwave does not look like) are designed for each specific park, usually not 6 or 7 years in advance, but 1 or 2. B&M probably did 0 work on that ride. Tell you what, when I get home I'll write a letter to B&M asking them about these Intamin stand ups and their involvment.
Grant, there is a 3rd, Cobra at La Ronde. It looks quite similar to B:TE, but is not a clone.

I garauntee you B&M did work on the intamin standups and the space divers...first of all, how is it not obvious to begin with?  The track so similar to B&M, the 4 across seating, etc.  All just a coincidence right?  Not to mention in Batman: The Escape in its previous life was Shockwave @ SFMM and I got it confirmed from higher ups there B&M worked on the project...
B&M was employed by intamin back in the day.  And they did have a large hand in designing that ride.
Shockwave aint the only Intamin stand up at Drayton Manor, and B&M certainly had nothing to do with Apocalypse.....and its a lot scarier than loads of coasters.
