Innocent Bystander Stabbed at Dorney Park

That seriously sucks.

This is the second incident this summer when the employee (former employee in this case) was the culprit.
Was the previous incident also at Dorney? Or was it at another park?

They need to really take a look at security at Dorney...the park really has a lack-luster and understaffed security force for the type of crowd the park draws....and sadly to say it has some not-so desireable staff members as well.....as this incident would show.

Just hope the victim comes through ok and they catch the guy so he gets what he deserves.

What's up with the thug employees and ex employees that Dorney is hiring? Guess good help is hard to find at that wage. :)
^lol, but postal workers make good money, and look what a few of them have done...

Well, when parks can't afford to add the newest technological rides to provide thrills, they resort to this. SFGAdv may have the tallest and fastest coaster but, Dorney really knows what scary is.

Yes, it's hard to find at that wage...considering inflation and the fact that the park hasn't increased wages since 2001...you could imagine how the quality of employees has slid from year to year.

And the park being located in Allentown doesn't help either. *** Edited 8/10/2007 8:32:22 PM UTC by scraperguy99***

I was thinking about the Six Flags Georgia incident as the other case. Maybe there are others...?
Does anyone know when this employee was working there? This guy could have been canned recently, or a long time ago.

And Allentown, although seems pretty peaceful to tourist, isn't exactly the safe Utopian city a park should be in.

I don't understand why people think that the park is located in the ghetto. I agree that Allentown proper is not the safest city in the world however, the park itself is located in one of the nicer and wealthier sections of Allentown. Less than half a mile away are 500,000-million dollar homes, and the neighborhood directly surrounding the park is one of the most desired areas in the Allentown area.

I agree that the guests that Dorney attracts in July and August make it seem like an inner city but what do you expect when Allentown is located only 45 min from Philly and 90 min from NYC? Families want a day get away from the big cities.

As for workers. The pay at the park is LESS than min. wage. (They can do this because its seasonal.) What more can you expect at 6.00 when you can go anywhere else and get paid at least a dollar more and get benefits?

An as for the actually topic of this thread...
It was a random act of violence. This could happen to you the next time you go shopping, or at YOUR home park, or on your way to church. Its the world we live in. It just so happened that this time it happened at Dorney and the guy used to work at Dorney. There are bad apples EVERYWHERE not just Dorney and Allentown.

Ex-boyfriend goes berserk looking for ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend? That s*** happens in high-rent office buildings, exclusive gated communities, and trendy boutiques and not just amusement parks or "Allentown." Some of these ex-es have large incomes, and are highly educated. When you're talking about the "fire down below," it knows no class distinction.
This story has nothing to do with a safe community. People get mad at me, and do bad stuff to others. Look at road rage. That's the same thing.
Too bad there wasn't a tree to hide behind. ;)

Concrete pillar-hugger. :)

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.
