Info on SFWOA trip

Can anyone give me some info on how are the prices inside SFWOA for food and games? Any good values like at Subway or at other places in the park? Me and my friends are heading out for a road trip on June 11th and I haven't been to the park since Fright Fest 2001 and noticed the prices for food were ridiculously expensive, although games and the prices for soveniers were not all the bad. Also how much does it cost to get a Batman Knight Flight on ride photo key chain? We're also carring most of our stuff since we plan to also hit the waterpark, so are there any bins and stuff in the ride station, I remember Batman having one, but wasn't sure about X-Flight or the others. If there are lockers instead how much would they cost? Also any tips on knowing what to hit first coasterwise, we were going to hit X-Flight and then superman and then go over towards batman and work are way back to the waterpark. Also I plan to stop at Burger King on the Ohio Turnpike coming from Pittsburgh, which restaurants are offering the coupon for Buy one get one free? What exit is Six Flags, I know every state has changed theri exit numbers to match their mile markers? Thanks for any info can give me.

Well like all amusement parks everything is overpriced. However, good thing about the lovely new shopping center across the way is that there is a McDonalds, Subway, KFC and Bob Evans, all within walking distance of the rides maingate.

SFWoA TL 2003!

Or park and take your stuff to the tent with the picnic tables. Is this open yet? Pack a lunch, it isn't that bad of a walk and you save a great deal of money.

When hitting the coasters - If you get there early enough, get to the right side of the park before the gate is removed and WALK to X-Flight or they will threaten to kick you out of the park and revoke your pass if you have one. The line for X-Flight tends to get very long and so you want to hit it in the morning. Also, get all the coasters in the vicinity, then head over to the Serial Thriller before that line also gets too long to wait for the ride. Don't waste too much time waiting for this ride, come back later if the line is long, you'll kick yourself if you don't. The Batman's line is steady all day, but IMHO it is the best ride in the park. Make sure you get to ride in the front and back each, because each offers totally different rides, one for airtime, one for the nice sensation of the floorless coaster.

The Batman, Villain, and Serial Thriller all have onride photos. I want to say that a keychain is around 8 or 9 dollars but don't quote me on this. Hope you enjoy your day at SFWoA, appreciate it, it's doing great so far this year!

Price for the photo's (at least Villains, I would assume they are all around the same price) is $6.95.

Best tasting food but is $12 is Mandarin Buffet, a chinese all you can eat buffet across from Shouka.

Best food for the value I would say is Shorty Pete's (I figured I edit this from Pet's to Pete's before all the animal right's people flame me ;) ) BBQ Smokehouse. 1/2 a BBQ chicken, fries, roll, and drink for around $6.75. And the chicken is really good IMO.

They do have a taco bell, 3 Subways, Mr. Hero, and Arthur Treacher's, all run about $1 higher than their normal prices.

If you have a season pass the Beachcomber's is BY FAR the best deal, everything is at least 50% off and sometimes more.

As for the games, they are a little cheaper than CP but about average compared to the USA. Some of the same games I found at both parks SFWoA is $1 cheaper. SFWoA ring and wiregame (the one were you have to move the ring down the wire) is a GIMMEE. The ring is almost twice the size of normal ring and wire games making it A LOT easier!! Quite a few of the games at SFWoA require skill, so if you have skill than you should come home pretty happy...compared to chance.

Shorty Pete's BBQ Smokehose also has 1/4 BBQ chicken, a slab of ribs, fries and roll for only $8.95. That is tons of food. We always buy one to share between 2 people. Dont forget! Get the souvenier bottle for only $3.95 or something like that. NOT the dolphin topper but the normal bottle. Refills are only $.99 ($1.05 with tax) cant beat that when a single 20 oz is over $3.00 now. Also, if you have a season pass dont forget to show it and get 15% off your meal! Not a bad deal at all!

Glad to see that Shorty Pet's BBQ Smoke House in RollerCoasterGod's response was a Typo. Somehow the name Pet and BBQ just would not be good marketing.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

What about the lockers in front of X-flight, how much do they cost? Also since they changed all the exit numbers, which one is Six Flags on the Ohio Turnpike coming from Pittsburgh? I know there ar signs everywhere after that telling where to turn and stuff to go. And are any rides closed right now, aside from Hurricane Mountain? Also are there any tips about what to do first inside Hurricane Harbor?

The Jokes on You!! Ha Ha
JokerCoaster,

While I'm not sure, about the X-Flight locker prices, I think they are pretty cheap if memory serves me right. Not to sure about the exact exit number from PA, I know there are at least 3 exists that can get you pretty close. I think Rt. 43 is the first of the exists (that would put you about 30 min away.)

HURRICANE MOUNTAIN IS OPEN NOW!!!

It just opened today. And took it's first riders yesterday (unofficially...news crew and some kids). That thing is FREAKN' FAST!!!! While all the landscape is massively still being done, is open now. I would deffinetly suggest hitting Hurricane Mountain first and then Shark Attack, since these are going to be a must for anyone in the waterpark. Shark attack looks like nothing compared to Hurricane Mountain, I can tell you.

The only thing that is down in the whole park is Texas Twister (still waiting on a custom made part.) Everything else will be open. Be aware that the whole park doesn't open up right at 10am (for instance Western Village opens at 11:30am, and Hurricane Harbor at Noon.) They should have X-Flight running two trains by then, but who knows. I would always recommend hitting X-Flight first thing when the park opens.

X-Flight was only running one train today. The park is in full force and everything was open. It was a nice day, despite some downtime on some rides due to power and other reasons.
Just curious, it looks like I'll only have 2 people with me on this trip, so are there any rides that don't allow solo riders like Big Dipper? I know alot of the rides are fine with just 3 people, but wasn't sure.

The Jokes on You!! Ha Ha
The crazy Starfish on wildlife doesnt allow solo riders. However since it has individual restraints now that night be changed sometime in the season but as of today it still is a "must have partner" attraction.

SFWoA TL 2003!

I know you won't be able to ride the starfish as a single rider. That would be a disapointment if you missed that one let me tell ya! One of the three of you will have to make sure to wait and ride with one of the others on the next ride (did that make sense?). I think you are fine on all the other rides though.

On at least one meal during your trip I would recommend the Mandarin Buffet (it's right by the Starfish as a matter of fact). It's $12.95 + tax and then another $2.79 + tax for a drink (or you can do water to save the three bucks) but I thought it was well worth it! It was like $60 bucks for the family to eat there. I sampled everthing from a stir fry made infront of me to sushi to S&S chicken and lots of other very appetizing items. The cuisine is Japanese and Chinese and American I believe. Hold off on earlier meals and eat later in the day when you are really hungry to get your money's worth!

Also a very good bet to save money which was also mentioned earlier is the new restaurants across the street from the wildrides side.

Another new novelty item worth trying is "The Spinner." It's a rotissierre pastry that is spun together, (it's hard to describe you have to see it) it's best ordered with the whipped cream and chocolate sauce. It's located close to time warp.

And the last thing I should tell you to make sure you do at least once on your trip is ride B:KF front row. It is hands down the best ride in the park. Awesome.

Darn XFlight just beat me to the statement about the Starfish ride! :-)

Yeah don't pass up the starfish ride. It may be hard to find, but it is so cool. Does anyone know if it is the old Casino ride, which was by the Mirage and the Black Widow on the other side of the Big Dipper that looked like a roulette table?
Starfish was relocated from Six Flags Marine World. The former Casino, I believe, was moved to Enchanted Village near Seattle.

As for lockers, not sure about the one's by X Flight, but the lockers in Hurricane Harbor will cost you $6.00 for a small locker and $10.00 for a large locker. Of course these are the electronic ones where you use a touch screen to reserve and are good for all day usage.

so the Texas Twister was open as well? I rode King Kahuna and was kinda disapointed because it only flipped once and was hoping the twister was open so I could compare and hopefully be flipped alot more?

Texas Twister is having it's whole Computer programing changed along with a few other electronics. Due to Texas Twister being one of the first models of it's age, it needs a new system. The same people that fixed El Derado's system after it got fried in the lighting storm are fixing Texas Twister's. According to them they are hoping to have Texas Twister up and running by July 1st. Then every ride will be up and running in the park.

I have a question on SFWoA:

I'm planning a trip there myself soon and I need to know if you're allowed to wear glasses on the Villain. Last year, some ride op told me couldn't wear them, then a few weeks later on another trip there, they said I could wear them. What's the policy?

------------------
Jab uf mo yo ha an ams isid da vee eh col ah al ti

I have ridden Villain with my glasses on but I also have a strap on them. The only ride they ask me about my glasses on is X Flight.

X Factor

Yeah I guess I forgot about Texas Twister. Sorry about that. It isn't up and running yet. I was just there today and TT and the Silver Bullet were both down. Everything else was up. Although, X-Flight did break down at the end of the day. Also, someone was wearing goggle type glasses with a strap tonight on the Villain, and also on the Batman. Nothing was said to them.
It sounds like WOA is running even more steadily than when i was there last year. And i thought it ran fine last year compared to what people were complaining about. Remember folks, SF only bought the park 3 years ago, so it takes them awhile to get the kinks out.

I remember when they bought Riverside (SFNE), i was a little sketched out that they would ruin it (especially when they started chopping up the Cyclone), but now we have IMO the best steel coaster in the country and it runs continually smoother with each passing year.
