Well, you all should have been there on time.

Oh, absolutely stooge (perfect name for ya! hehe). However, if leaving 35mins before we needed to (because of the horrid weather) and arriving a handful of minutes late means no admission to the tour, well, that doesn't sit well with me.

You seem to be about as open for discussion as Mr. "Get out now!" Holmes was at the tour. Maybe you guys should hang out.

Sorry I don't have time to be flamed.

Ugh...this is getting ugly. I think that those who have a problem (not saying that in a smart-alec way) should directly e-mail the Holmes's rather than try to stir up a mess here.

Not flaming buddy, just making you realize how ridiculous your comment sounded given the situation.

You absolutely *cannot* be that uptight on times with the weather as bad as it was. There has to be flexibility or certain people need to find a new hobby... Not to mention excercising common courtesy to members of the club they represent. A little tact is always welcome, you know.

EDIT: Glitch you are absolutely right. There will be no more responses from me on this matter in this thread.

Hope everyone enjoyed the tour! /EDIT

Legendary,

You tapped into a good point... TACT.

ACE relies on the kindness and generosity of hundreds of volunteers. My hat is off to all the hard working reps that make events fun, enjoyable times. That is the essence of why ACE was developed.

However, because these folks are volunteers, some regions end up with reps that have little to no PR skills. If this were an actual company and a paid position, one of the biggest requirements would be tact and the ability to avoid confrontation. But it is not, thus areas get stuck with those that choose to act in the manner described in the above posts.

The greatest downside to the establishment of local ACE reps is many feel that they wield some sort of power or esteem by holding the position. I find it laughable because the professionals actually employed in the amusement park business often hold little regard for these folks. Many are seen as troublesome and are avoided. Mainly because of the general people skills they lack.

Again, I STRONGLY suggest you let ACE know. Events are supposed to be enjoyable. Although requirements such as specific arrival times should be honored, it is appalling that an emabarassing scene or degrading remark was made with little regard to circumstances.

Not flaming huh? Gee, what do you call it? Why don't you and Shaggy e-mail them instead of airing this in public? This forum is not the place to do it. I think Scott and Carol have done a marvelous job at what they do for us! You two make me sick. EDIT!

You may want to re-read my posts. If so you will see that I was not flaming anyone particularly. Never did I type a name. You based your reply on an assumption that I was speaking of them.

Correct as your assumption was, I was not singling any person out by name. That is what I consider flaming, as you have just done to me.

I am not angered by you opinion. You are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine.

I have stayed off this thread 'til now, but the "unraveling" of the fabric means it's time to post. I have met Carol and Scott (and was a half-hour late) for hooking up at WA. Well, the double-shot got me in the air, and I saw the bright blue jacket. We spent hours together, riding, talking, eating, etc., and had a really good time.

I know from some previous "experiences" that I'll not go into here that timing of some of this stuff varies WIDELY. Some stuff is determined by the parks and we have NO say. I do NOT know what went on at IB, and I don't post negative stuff about individuals anyway...(much like my esteemed friend, for whom my respect has only grown through this "debacle")...you know who you are, Skeeter!

Nevertheless, negative stuff is best left to e-mail, where it's not like airing dirty laundry, so to speak...

(it's what you DO say that determines whether you're CALLED a character, but what you DON'T say that determines whether you have character....)...

Darn tootin' Shaggy!

Beer is proof that God exists and wants us to be happy. President Benjamin Franklin.

I'm suprised to hear about the individuals in question as the impression I personally got about them was drastically different to the claims laid out here. But then again I've never had any "official" dealings with them as I'm not and ACEr.

Once again, those playing along at home KNOW how I feel about ACE...

There is something to be said about contacting the powers that be and letting them know about this, however, I am happy that someone brought this situation to the attention of the entire coaster community. I think it is important that people know these things are going on. I am not an ACE member nor did I attend the event at IB.

I can tell you right now that if I drove 6 hours to get to an event and was late and told to go home I would be absolutely livid. There would have probably been police involved if it was me in that situation because Mr. ACE god would have been mauled by me.

That said, based on what I have read in this thread I plan on NEVER joining ACE if this is the kind of thing they allow to go on. People are going to be late to events. It is a fact of life when many people are travelling over two hours to get to events. RagingUSMC was only 5 minutes late and he is told to go home on a day where a five minute delay is definately a mitigating circumstance.

For those who say it should be a private issue between RagingUSMC and ACE, I think that is wrong. This issue needs to be brought to the coaster community so that people know what kind of club ACE is and maybe the people in ACE will be pressured to make it a better place.

Just my two cents. Flames may now begin.

Cheers,

Marquette a five seed? They were robbed!!!

I agree with you 100 percent Kick The Sky. ;)

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

"This issue needs to be brought to the coaster community so that people know what kind of club ACE is..."

No offence to anyone, but there has only been one side to this story so far. I'm not saying that anyone is lying...but possibly exaggerating (just a little). I'm also not going to take anyone's side. I just want to say that I met Scott and Carol last year on a Cornball construction tour and I thought they were two of the nicest people I have ever met.

Regardless of what happened or what the other side of the story is, it's not very classy to be calling out people by name. You've got a problem, address it to ACE and the rep in question.

This will not be a forum for working out problems in ACE. Their problems are not ours.
