Imagine my suprise when my non roller coaster riding wife suprises me with news that she has secured reservations at a hotel in Sandusky for two full days at Cedar Point. She loved the park so much last year that we are going to return!!
Anyhoo, she also put in a day to go to Indiana Beach on the way home but calling AAA for hotel info yielded a response that all the ones they knew about were &%$#@. So here is my question. Is there any good hotels in the area to stay at that are reasonably priced and also nice? I want to experience LoCoSuMo this year so I have to find the hotel if I want to go there.
Thanks for any help,

If you don't mind a little bit of driving, you might want to check out the Lafayette area. It's about 35 miles south of IB. Having driven by many times on the way to and back from Chicago, I know that there are a bunch of national chain hotels at one of the exits off of I-65.
Hope this helps,
Aaron
Here is a page that has some links to hotels in Monticello: http://www.monticelloindiana.com/lodges.htm
I've never stayed at any, as we make Indiana Beach a day trip from Chicago.
I wouldn't recommend staying by Lafayette if you could avoid it, as it's probably about 40-45 minutes away from the park. If you're going to spend that much time traveling to and from your room, you might as well go all the way back to Chicago.

It's not 45 mins, there is a Days Inn and another motel at the West Lafayette exit of I-65, The far north one. I have been staying the Days Inn (Used to be Holiday Inn) for a weekend every march for the last 21 years. A huge farm toy show is there, anyway its a very nice motel and the cost isn't that much and it is about 30 mins from IB. 30 mins is not far away to me, maybe it is to others, I live in the middle of nowhere so my opinion may be different. But it's not too far.

FYI, the park has their own hotel on-site! You should be able to find info on the park's website www.indianabeach.com I'm staying there for two nights following SRM on the recommendation of a friend who stayed there last year.

I believe the Best Western that IB Dave speaks of is the one right off of US 24 where you turn to go to IB. It was built in 2000 I think. I stayed there in August of 2000 and found it fine, but not finished. The campground is great, I've stayed there entires weeks and they have cabins as well, but my friend Stoogemanmoe always recomends this place:
Quiet Water Bed And Breakfast Inn
I'm finding it hard to believe that Logan is 35-40 minutes to Indiana Beach.
