Indiana Beach

Does anyone know if Indiana Beach is getting anything new this year?
I was under the impression that no new attractions would be added this year.. (with the addition of locosumo, and the recent retracking of HH i;m guessing IB is set for the time being)
plus I checked the website, and there is no mention of anything new..

Hope this helps..

Anyone else

From what Tom Spackman (owner) said at NoCoasterCon, no, they are not getting anything "new". They are spending quite a few $$$ on reprofiling sections of track on LoCoSuMo (it was too rough in sections).

I think they are also doing some retracking on HH.

They are also replacing all the guns with better ones in "The Den of Lost Theives"

Thats good news. Those guns were really messed up this last season.

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

redman, no retracking on HH but some work *was* done on Cornball's fourth hill as well as retracking *and* reprofiling on LoCo.

Not only will there be new guns in DoLT, the targets have been recalibrated so scores should go up. Personalyy, I never paid too much attention to my score since the ride experience itself was so cool, it didn't *really* matter.

For all you ACEr's, IB will offer 50% off all POP for the *entire* season this year.

I'll be there on Opening Day, May 3, and will post a trip report with any changes from last year since I know there are quite a few of you who will make the stop in Monticello after CBuzzCon.

General info...the retracking on Cornball and LoCo was done under the direction of Junior Eads, who did HH last year, and was the lead tracker for CCI, as I understand. Seems Junior also spent some time with Jeff Hammersley this/last year on a couple other woodies a little farther south. This certainly bodes well for an improved LoCo ride!

I was out to the park this past Monday. The focus for this season is LoCoSuMo since the Beach considered it an "unfinished ride."

The track work is done. Reprofiling was done on: the drop off the Mountain; the hill by the Skyride before the horseshoe turn; the curve at the end of the horseshoe; and the dive drop into the first floor tunnel. The double down from 3rd-1st was also re-tracked, but the profile remains as terrifying as last year.

The station is now partially enclosed. Also, a queue (or as the Beach affectionately calls them, queue line) has been built.

A company from Wisconsin redid the inside of the ride with "Mountain stucco." They were working on the outside adding more Mountain-like features. This includes a completely new fiberglass feature above the Taco Stand that hides some of the support steel and track.

What was wrong with Cornball? Here's hoping the ride only gets better. :-)

Hey Dave! Any chance you can post some pics of the LoCoSuMo changes?

Sorry, Moosh. I didn't have a camera with me. Maybe next time.

Also, the old stunts will be working again (I'm hoping for the *upper* waterfall--- unused for years) and new ones added.

No worries, Dave. I'd love to say I'll be seeing it all for myself this year but it doesn't look like I'll be making it to your neck of the woods in '03.

Wrong WITH Cornball....nothing at all, IMO. Well, there is the fact that Cornball itself is "just plain wrong". I find it hard to believe that it could be *improved*, but considering WHO did the work, I'm not complaining...:)

I can only think of one thing wrong with Cornball: it's not closer to Los Angeles!

Amen. Cornball looks like the smaller of the two woodies there, and also looks less fun. But then again, looks can be decieving. I'm just glad I rode Hoosier Hurricane first, if I hadn't, I might not have enjoyed HH at all...
