Important: Shockwave chain record set straight

Really, really sorry to the mods, but I've been going around the board, seeing posts that seem to contradict one another on the status of Shockwave's chain lift.

I REALLY want to set the record straight. As of today (8-20-02) Shockwave's chain is NOT ON THE RIDE. I have visual proof, as well.

The chain would be easily visible at the top of the lift, around a gear. The white thing under the lifthill (that is at about the same slope as the hill) is the guide for the chain back down, and there is nothing in it as of now.

For FURTHER proof, look at this picture I took a few months ago. You can CLEARLY see the chain at the top of the hill.

Sorry to beat this into the ground, but I wanted to provide tangible evidence of the chain being gone, so all the rampant speculation would end.

I'd appriciate if you'd let this one live, so we will be able to have proof.

(EDIT: I've uploaded better pictures now...)

Thanks for the info and pix. At first I was skeptical but now I know the truth.

I got kicked off, but I'm back!

Umm, that's not the chain that you're looking at in the "visible chain" picture.

EDIT: OK, you just changed the link to a different picture and yes you can obviously see the chain in that picture but that doesn't prove a thing because the track hides the chain at the top and you can't see the tiny part leading into the gear.

EDIT 2: OK, you just changed the link of the non'chain picture to a different picture and you can tell it was edited for some reason because you can see there's a small piece of right rail mysteriously invisible. When were these taken? Were you there?

I have stayed out of this till now because this has become a total flame war. I was there on Sunday and it was clear to me that the chain was not on the lift hill. The running sprocket at the top was clearly empty which told me the chain is gone. What everyone might be seeing is the chain return guide which is painted white and runs the entire length of the lift.

EDIT: Let me point out though that a missing chain does not a defunct coaster make. They may be repairing the chain and still fully intend on opening this puppy.

I promise you I didn't edit it. The second I got in the entrance-area, I noticed that there was no chain around the gear. That's the only real reason why I took the pictures.

The reason the track isn't there is because THAT is where the chain would dip through to the gear...

(Edited to say: That, and I'm not that good with PSP... Yes, I was there today (from about noon until 6) and I took those pictures. That's what the ol' site is...)

Coasterzach- take a look at any Arrow looper and you will see that it has a break in it's spine where the chain curves under and wraps around a gear.

If you still don't believe that the chain is gone after all these people confirming it is through park visits and photos, you must be on crack.

By the way, here's another picture of the WORKING Shockwave, with the missing tie boxed...

Here.

(Another edit... I should really think what I'm trying to post through before I do... Just wanted to note that you can see Shockwave on the lifthill... It's that long dark thing... Just so there wouldn't be any more contraversy, because that's what gets threads like this closed.)

hey all i was at great america yesterday the 19th and in addition to the chain being removed from shockwave so was the blue train. i checked to see if it was just parked in the station but it was not there.

also a little off subject but yet again Deja Vu was broken down.

i hope this is informative being this is my first post.

I just hope it will be modified and repaired, but from the looks of it....... I think it's going bye bye :-(

why don't you go along the fence and look up the lifthill like all the opponents do.

HINT: Just because you can't see it there (which was never in question) doesn't mean it's not there at all!

Enough of the speculation. Chain or not chain. This isnt proof that the coaster is going.
