I'm Mad!

Need I remind people that coasters are installed not for sentimental purposes, but for the purpose of generating more cash. People continually complain that certain parks don't get new rides every year. Well, ask yourself, how would they intend to pay for them?

On point as always, Jeff.:) Though, it would be nice to see the gravy being spread a little wider around the chain, but Titan should rock.

Everybody calm down, the coasters do not open for another fifteen minutes.

As far as Six Flags goes, I would expect them to continue aggressive investment in large markets where they have competition, like SFA (DC/Baltimore), SFMM, SFGAdv, etc. Parks like SFDL, SFKK and SFStL will probably not see as much activity for awhile.

On the other hand I fear that they are building too strongly in places that they won't be able to show the revenue, but that's an essay for another day...

Its SFoT's 40th (the FIRST six flags park) and they are only getting Titan, used flat rides and some inprovements. I know that all this is great but, I mean, SFOT did start it ALL. Come on Six Flags - wise up!

ONLY TITAN! I'm sorry but a hypercoaster is nothing to scoff at! Look at Cedar Point. They're putting in a better camping area, that's it! Be excited for what you are getting.

magic mountain really pisses me off. i wish we would get something better than them for a change. i was guess our day is over. we used to be the leaders. now mm is.

If you are talking about SFMM vs SFGAM after hearing all those report how crappy SFMM woodies are I am convinced that Viper @ SFGAM(ridden) is better than Psyclone(not ridden)! So you see SFGAM has at least on thing better than SFMM!!

Just because SFMM didn't announce their Invertigo at the same time as SFGAM doesn't mean that they copied SFGAM's idea. For all you know SFMM could've came up with the idea first. And the reason why SFMM generates more $$$ than the other Six Flags is because they are open the longest. Attendance doesn't mean anything. You're forgetting merchandise, food, drinks, etc;
Not to meantion, SFMM is a ghost town during the winter. That doesn't lead to much revenue.

Have you ever gotten the feeling that you've been here before? Six Flags Magic Mountain 2001...
Since when was any Cyclone clone a good coaster. Both SFGAm & SFMM Cyclone 'clones' just don't cut it above the other woodies out there. And no, it doesn't mean that SFMM is copying SFGAm's 'super boomerang' just because SFGAm announced it first. Well I mean if SFGAm would've given the facts and whole deal about it, then the table would have turned the other way. And who cares if your home park isn't on the Discovery Channel. Viper is more distinguished than SFGAm's Shockwave. Being that it is larger and a more improved semi-version of Shockwave.

Life sucks.
So does PGA's Grizzly.
Have you even been to SFGAm? Viper is airtime heaven! And this was an in house built coaster! I agree that SFGAm should have announced it earlier if they wanted credit for it, but what's this about Shockwave being primitive compared to SFMM's Viper? Viper is what, 15 feet taller than Shockwave, ooh big difference. More improved? What do you mean, having more trims? And it isn't that much larger, either. 2 or 3 extra 90 degree turns doesn't make much of a difference in my book.
kRaXLeRidAH have you ever been on viper.Viper is an awesome woodie, lots of airtime, some laterals. I'm pretty sure it is one of Jeff's top 5 or 10 woodies. And to answer what park came up with the Super Invertigo first neither. Ever think about Vekoma the designers of the ride.

Ahhh...I think you got the wrong coaster!
I think its S.F.G.A. turn to get some attention. Hey why don't we combine our 2 coasters and trade them in for the X and build it before S.F.M.M. builds it? I know it won't happen but... I think S.F.G.A. needs a one of a kind coaster. I think S.F.M.M. sould only get 2 coasters anyways. They souldn't get a copy of S.F.G.A.'s coaster in 2001. I think S.F.M.M. sould come up with there own idea's and not take ours. And mess up our time to shine the with Super Invertigo.
Texas Cyclone was a great clone when it ran with the PTC trains.

Say no, to lap bar nazis!

Still Viper @ SFGAM is at least top 10 material!!

Just a couple of quick things.

1. I dont understand why SFKK doesnt get more attention. I mean they do have serious competition nearby (~1hr) in the form of PKI (one of the better entire family parks). It would seem to be that they would be next inline for a multiple installation.

2. Being partial to SFGAm (former home park), I too am pretty pissed at SFMM (and yes I've been there). Not so much because they are getting killer rides (that's always a good thing) but more so because they do get a lot of media attention. It's irks me that Viper is so much in front of the camera, but it really frosts my cookies when they show footage and acclaim SFMM's Batman: The Ride and not SFGAm's. I can understand that Viper is bigger/faster than Shockwave so I just deal with it. But there is no difference in the B:TR's. Why dont they show the original?!? (sorry, I was having a personal moment...)

The question is... Why is Six Flags pouring all that money (and coasters) into SFMM?

The answer is... DCA

Few would argue that anyone does the "family vacation" thing better than Disney. Now that a new DISNEY park is opening, think of the amount of families that will be headed to SoCal for their summer vacation. There will be those who have never been, and DCA will be the kicker to get them to go. There will be those who went 10+ years ago, and DCA is the kicker to get them to return. ALL of those people will be bringing plenty of green presidential photographs with them.

Six Flags (now armed with the Holy Grail of coaster records) is ready to strike out in a big way to get some of the Mouse's money. I can see the commercials now... "Tired of Disney's same old same old? Come to the Xtreme Park, 15 coasters including..."

If the plan is a success, all other Six Flags can only benefit in the long run.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!

Give Soggy a prize! The construction of DCA isn't exactly a surprise, and there's no way SF is going to be caught with their pants down in a market that gets more competitive every year.

I would argue that the approach they're taking is not a complete one (i.e., where will people stay, what national marketing will take place, etc., all to combat the mouse), but that's something for another day.
