I'm going to IOA this summer!

I can't wait! The last time I went to Disney World, there was no Islands of Adventure! The park looks great - Hulk and the Dragons look spectacular!

Anyone know of any good fan sites or information sites for IOA? The official site doesn't give much info on the rides...thanks!

I wish I could go there! I heard the themeing is really great! I don't know of where you can get any information but I'm sure where ever you stay, be it a hotel, will have plenty of brochures for IOA.

Have Fun!!

BTW: If you do go to Disney World, make sure you take a ride on Tower of Terror, Star Wars, and some tour ride (can't remember the name). Tower of Terror was so awesome!! I just wish they had more thrill rides so I would have to make another trip back!

That is soo cool that you are going to IOA. I want to go but probably won't for another couple of years. I have heard of IOA sites but can't recall any. Maybe check the IOA page here or on RRC?

Yes IOA is awesome. I went there this January, and Febuary. DO NOT FORGET to ride the Incredible Hulk coaster. 7 inversions,2 corkscrew turns/2 loops, 4.5 G's, Top speed 60 mph, Longest vertical drop 105ft., 1 weightless, 0-G roll at 110 ft. Also it uses motors and wheels to propel the train from 0-45 mph in 2 seconds up the lift hill. Information given from T-shirt purchased from stand (oddly located) right in the middle the exit path!!! *** This post was edited by Fly By on 2/15/00. ***
LOL - I just read this topic from AGES ago and laughed. I must have been really excited when I wrote it!

Anyways...in the end, we went to Walt Disney World, MGM Studios, Universal Orlando (USF and IOA), Sea World Orlando, and that horrible Wet N' Wild park.

I really enjoyed Islands of Adventure the most though. Some say the park sucks, or it lacks roller coasters, or it doesn't fill your day up and there is not enough to do. Well, I can tell you from personal experience, that is false. We went from opening time to closing time and I still didn't get my extra rides on the Hulk like I wanted.

It was also great to ride the "World's Best Thrill Ride" Spiderman. It was truly amazing and a lot more than I expected! I didn't realise that when you are looking at one of the many screens and someone throws a flame of fire at you, a fire explosion happens right next to you. It was all tied together really nice.

Other rides I enjoyed were: Twister, Hulk, Dragons, Rock 'n' RollerCoaster, Tower of Terror, Kraken, and of course it was great as always to see the Main Street Electrical Parade!

I just got back from a ten day jaunt to Orlando/Tampa on Dec 25 at 1 am. By parkhopping a lot, we got to IOA 5 times, USF 2 times, MK 3, AK 2, MGM 3, Epcot 3, BGT 2, Sea World 4, and Old Town 1. Talk about getting the most out of the vacation! :) Of course, my fav park still is IOA. Nothing can beat the atmosphere of that place, it's unreal. Dragon hopping is one of my favorite things to do. We just dragon hopped for an hour and a half one night, it was amazing. Must have racked up 25 or so rides. Hulk has one of the most incredible starts to any coaster I've ever been on. Doom is one of the very best space shots in exitence today. Spiderman is unreal and has to be ridden to be believed. The water rides are the very best in their respective categories. The restaurants and their theming make the price I spend on food irrelevant as the atmosphere of the place alone makes it worthwhile.

Well, I'd better stop gushing now before I go on forever. :) Suffice to say, IOA is my favorite place on Earth.

I went there last spring and it was awesome. Wish I would of taken more pics. Some words of advice. When you first enter the park, look for a board around where the hulk is, that says the approximate waiting times. This will give you your best shot at avoiding long lines. I didn't see this board until after waiting for 45 minutes for the hulk. The rest of the park was empty because everyone sees the hulk first and wants to ride it. Later in the day the hulk was empty. The spiderman ride had a line all day but is definitly worth the wait. All the rides are great and each one has something different to offer. When going on deuling dragons, try to get front seat on your first ride. It makes the experience even better. I think ice side is better than the fire and don't forget about the re-enter spot right after you get off the ride. Its only about 50 feet from the front of the lines. I might be going back there in May and I will actaully get some good pics. I'll also write a trip report.
www.usinfo.com is a good site for Universal/IOA. The Moderator is a member of the Florida Coaster Club :) Was at IOA last May and liked it so much I am going back at the end of January!
Whoops! It is www.usfinfo.com instead of the link above. Sorry! I e-mailed the moderator of the discussion board of the site and asked him to register his site with Coasterbuzz.
If you stay on site you can get front of the line access all day!! The hotels start at about 150.00/night but that is a grweat perk.
