Illinois State Fair

Does the Illinois State fair usually have any roller coasters? We are going this year for the first time in a few weeks. A reply would be appreciated!

Islands of Adventure, why go there?

I've been there a few years in the past decade. Never seen anything close to a coaster. Sorry!

I really don't like the fair (I went to see concerts), and I like the rides even less. It's like $40 for a ride all day pass, and the rides are nasty. :(

Whoa! Since when does the ISF *not* have a coaster? Granted, I havent been there in ages (like mid-eighties) but they used to have a Chance Toboggan and what I can only best describe as a Schwarzkopf Wildcat (though it may have been by a different maker).

If you want a coaster at a state fair, come to Wisconsin State Fair. Where else can you get a 25 cent glass of rootbeer milk and beer battered cheese curds! We usually have a Galaxi coaster and a little Pinfari "Worm" coaster. But my favorite ride is stil the Zipper.

well...the ISF has sucked in my opinion. No good selection of rides, and thats all I really care about ;)

but...I heard an ad on the radio saying that this year a fabbri mega drop ride is coming.....so something to actually look forward too.

Why anyone would want to eat a cheese curd is beyond me, BUT, I would suggest the WSF. Simply because, at least in 2000, they had a Top Scan. (didnt ride it though)

Yes, the Top Scan will be at the Wisconsin State Fair this year. The Minnesota State Fair beats them all, though, with awesome rides *and* the Reverchon Crazy Mouse.

Ohio is getting that same mouse for the next 3 weekends! Woo hoo something other than the Pain-fari looper!

Jeremy, I too remember a Wildcat type coaster there back in the 80s, but the fair has switched the company that brought in the rides once or twice in the last 15 or so years. (I knew the fellow that used to be in charge of the rides area, as in hiring the company to bring everything in, etc...) I went or drove by the fair most years in the 90's through today. I don't remember anything coaster wise there in a LONG time.

Springfield is where I was born, so I visit every year. Never did like the fair, though....not even when they had a small coaster :(

woah...i never knew you were a springfield native, peabody.

i live in chatham....but spend all my money in springfield. i do remember that wildcat coaster, but i was either too small or too scared to ride it. they need another coaster there....but the drop ride is something new.

I have to agree with agd, we went last year and the only thing that looked worth riding was a chance inverter. Agd, what radio station playes the advert for the fair? Haven't heard about it on WQLZ. A drop ride might get me to stop and spend some money.
