Iger lets slip that Disney Hollywood Studios will change name again

A 6-year-old child at the Walt Disney Co.'s annual shareholder meeting asked a question about whether the studios might change its name. "It's not announced. We used to be MGM Studios, we changed to Hollywood Studios and we're doing some significant work there right now that I guess will result in a name change," Disney CEO Bob Iger answered. "Now we can announce that. It's not been announced, right? No. We'll announce that we're changing the name but we won't announce what we're changing it to. How's that?"

Disney Cloud City...or something with "galaxy" or "galactic" in it.

Interesting....

I can't imagine they're going to stray too far away from the Hollywood theme, what with Pixar Place and Tower of Terror and the Great Movie Ride (which is getting some TLC and some TCM-branded additions) and all, and with expanding (greatly?) the presence of one of the most popular movie franchises of all time.

Putting on my speculation hat, which is a stunning purple hat, really, with an ostrich feather and a veil...

....Disney Hollywood Adventure? Hollywood would reference the park's theme and the Star Wars movies while Adventure could reference the existing attractions and the exciting new Star Wars attractions(s), and the two together riff on California Adventure?

....Walt Disney Studios Park? Never hurts to invoke the Walt Disney name, and retaining "Studios" in the name would make sense.

Just drop the Hollywood. I always thought that was stupid. "Disney Hollywood Studios? Is that in California or Florida? Isn't Universal Studios Hollywood in, er, Hollywood?"

They should just drop both 'Hollywood' (for the reason Jeff stated) and 'Studios' since there really isn't any actual sound stages left for production use.

I vote for Super Awesome Disney Movie Land. The pin-trading freaks will start calling it SADML immediately.

Hi

Adding to the confusion is that there IS an actual Hollywood, FL...

It's about 3 hours south, and just south of the now-defunct DBH.
