Idlewild 2008?

Idlewild posted a blog on their site today with a pic of their new attraction for 2008.

Anyone have a clue what it could be?

My guess is it's going in Hootin' Holler area of the park, probably replacing Dizzy Lizzy's because that ride has been nothing but a headache the past season and a half...

By the wavy-ness of the piece, I'm guessing maybe a slide of some sort that more than one person could go down at a time? I'm guessing we're looking at the side of the piece?

Yup! It's a slide!

Geez... member the one at Cedar Point!??? And they'd give you wax paper along with your gunny sack... geez, that was great. I think the ride had the most injuries on it - burns from people trying to stop themselves...

Ummmm....a giant slide?
I know this is going to sound wild and out there, but I was watching an HBO late night special involving porn from way back or early age.

One of the segments involved early porn that was filmed at Idlewild. What was shown looked like something from the 1920's

So next time you visit Idlewild, ask an oldtimer or someone that works there that knows history about the park about adult film making at the park. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Well, one of those type like you see at carnivals. I guess "Giant" is not the word, I've just always called them that.

LOL, I call them "dry sack slides". There are still a few around at the smaller parks, but the biggest one I've seen in the past decade or so is the GIANT slide (LOL!) at Puyallup. Stupid thing shoulda had an elevator... ;)

Is there already a "racing slide" at SoakZone? Seems likely that those two could easily be confused...

Hershey still has one.

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Martin's Fantasy Island had one when we were there in '04. Haven't heard of it's removal.

American Adventures, Enchanted Forest, Wild Adventures, Cypress....lots of smaller parks still have them.

LibertyLand, LeSourdsville had them.

I'm sure there are at least three or four *other* sets I'm missing...I always try to get at least one lap. Wanted MFI's but it was too wet. Oh, Beech Bend. FunTown maybe? LOL, love those things! :)

Kings Island had a very large one at one time.

-Congo Falls - 90 rides (one day) -Murder of the Orient Express (1980-2003)
So Did CP. If memory serves me correctly, Kiddieland (Kingdom?) was flanked on one side by the arcade and on the other by the slide. I could be wrong...

-'Playa

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

The Giant Slide at Cedar Point was located where the Peanuts Playground was up to the end of the 2007 season. It sat right behind the buildings on the main midway (i.e. Snoopy Boutique and Pagoda). On the left side of the slide was a mini-golf course. Both were removed in the mid-80s when that area became Berenstain Bear Country, then later Peanuts Playground.
Actually, the slide was removed in the early 90's Brother Dave.
You are correct AJ, 1991 would have been the last year for the slide. Berenstain Bear Country opened in 1992 according to CP's history page. Thanks for the correction!
I really liked that slide at CP. But it's OK as long as it was removed to make way eventually for anything Snoppy. :)

I'm suprised they are still around anywhere though. Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

The greatest slide was at LAkeside in Salem,va

CHitown really a HBO special or a hobby..
