Well, I finally got Loopy Landscapes. (I'd been so happy with CF, I saw no need to ditch it right away.) Anyway, I'm a good deal into Arid Heights, and I've got about 2,000 people or so. Now, I have 19 handymen employed, and the Mow Lawn box is unchecked (not that there's much lawn to mow). Anyway, ALL of them just wander around the map, not on the paths. Why are they leaving the paths? This never happened in CF...so now I've got about 2 handymen that are cleaning up all the puke in the park, and it doesn't work. My park rating goes to crap every time a bunch of puke gets on the sidewalk. I'm using the TRG trainer (which is quite nice I must say), and I can clean the paths with that, but it's not my idea of fun...constantly clicking Shift-F10 to get my paths cleaned. Is this a bug in the game? A side effect from the trainer? I really don't want to have to assign routes for all my handymen, but it looks like that's my only option right now.
Also, before you get on me for using a trainer so soon after getting LL, just know that my joy from RCT comes from creating huge, beautiful parks, not from beating the scenarios. Sometimes I'll do a scenario without a trainer, but I figure that all the rides in the world have already been researched...why should I have to research them again! :)
One final comment...I've never been a big person on theming, but LL's theming is so darn cool! I made an awesome dueling/racing standup, with the stations housed in a huge castle. I'm going to theme the entire ride as if it were a huge castle/medieval village. But I don't want to do that if my paths are all goopy! :)

I dont know anything about your first problem though, but I loaded LL in,and hated it for the way it ran!It wouldnt let me go to the extra scenarios that LL has, every time I use the trainer it crashes,it wont let me use the Dresxler patch because it wont load! The theming and all the new things are awsome though but I jsut have to play a descent game,so I reloade CF.
And now have to wait till the new expansion pack,or(hopefully)RCT2!
This LL is so ****ed up, don't even bother buying it.

What is life without geniuses?
Let's see...
Assuming that you have the clean paths button checked, and they still are doing that, I'd say that you're game is bugged, or something.
That never happened to me (and I've had LL since the week it was released.)

...But that's just my opinion. Unless it's also someone else's.
Thanks. I assigned working paths for them, so they stopped wandering...still have some dirty paths, so I'll have to check that out.
Jman
I've always had to assign them paths, even in the first game.
Mine never wander off the beaten path so to speak. I hire them, put them on the path, un-check mow grass (because I have the TRG Trainer also) and let them go to it. They have never just took a field trip through the woods without any reason. They stay on the path, empty trash cans and clean up puke all without complaining. Your problem sounds like it might be a bug with your computer or your game.

What is life without ups and downs!?!?
woah coaster genius... would'nt be trying to run LL on a mac or something would ya? lol.
I have had 0 problems with my LL, after playing in all the scenarios. it lived up to be everything that was promised before it was released.
But Jman I know what you mean about ride research. RCT is supposed to mimic real life, but in real life if you actually owned an amusement park, you would have the design of every ride ever built at your disposal. You wouldn't be restricted to a railroad and ferris wheel. The fact that every time you begin a new scenario you have to research everything all over again is not something chris sawyer should be proud of.

I noticed that if you place the handyman in the grass right after you hire him, then uncheck the mow grass, sometime they will never wander back to the paths. Instead they wander in the grass doing nothing. Try picking up a few and placing them on the paths to see if they wander back to the grass. take note of their numbers so you can monitor them.

jdancisin, I actually did that twice before assigning paths. Sure enough, within 6-7 minutes, 95% of them were back wandering the sand. When I assigned paths to them, I didn't keep the original handymen. I fired them all and replaced them with better staff! :)
Jman
I don't like to let my handymen wander whereever they want. I prefer to leave two that can wander freely (four in the no money scenarios) and then restrict all other handymen to four or five blocks. This can sometimes cause problems because I sometimes have my handymen wander off the paths. This is usually only a problem on bridges where they cannot get back on to the path. Yes, I see them wander off occasionally, but it is usually a short trip and is harmless. I don't care about mowing the grass. I don't think that it harms park rating at all because most of my parks stay steady at 999 park rating. The key to that is clean footpaths. I don't even care about ride crashes. Yes, the rating dips by more than 150 sometimes, but within three weeks it is back to 999 without advertising.
As for Loopy Lanscapes causing problems I don't know what you are talking about. I have had no problems with the game. It works great and I have the drexler patch and use a couple of trainers occasionally.
Jman, dont fire them. If they aren't doing their job correctly, a nice drowning will teach em. LOL

Say no, to lap bar nazis!
Jman,
I'm guessing that this is a union job...

You build it, I'll ride it...eventually
I think that when you placed them on the map, they were in the middle of nowhere, and they get lost. It happened to me. All you have to do is re-place them on a path. I had a ride crash because the mechanic who was going to fix it got lost off of the path.

Ah, Roller Coasters.
An hour wait for a two minute ride.
Rock on.
