I.B. Galaxie

Does anyone know if Galaxie ever opened this year? I was at the park in June and it was down. I also heard that it had been closed the entire year. If so does anyone know why? I think they should take it out and put a new Huss ride out on the pair that would be great.

Galaxi opened sometime in June and was open through the end of the season.
Galaxi received a new control system this year. When the controller on CE burned out, the new one on Galaxi was installed on CE. The supplier does not stock these anymore, they are only made to order. IB has developed a list of common parts that they can stock themselves to prevent this issue from hapening again. The Galaxi will not be removed soon due to the cost of reworking the controllers.

From what I know IB has no intention of removing any coasters. In fact, I fully expect to see another one crammed in there in the next few years ;)

I am not so sure about those controllers being replaced. Here is a picture I took of the controls in late June. I took the picture basically because they looked so old and frankly dangerous.

The Phoenix, its Schmecktacular!

That's not the controllers. They are circut boards hidden inside boxes or panels.

The push buttons they use now to send the trains out was installed year before last. That was when I first noticed them.

Miss coastergames.net? Here is a good site.

The IB Galaxi was open when I went there at the end of August. That ride looks very old. There is some nice airtime in the back which is scary with everything looming above.

I just love how everything is crammed together on that pier.

I rode Galaxi this season, back in July. I was a little surprised that it was running with single cars instead of with the 2-car trains. The operator commented that the motor had been replaced and the new motor couldn't reliably operate with the heavier trains.

Combine that with the comments in this thread, and I'll bet it was a motor controller that got replaced...probably a VFD or something.

By the end of the season I believe (IIRC) it was running 2-car trains again.
