IAAPA info...

just wondering...I know there's some sort of "gathering" at IOA on Thrsday, and I'm not looking for anything in terms of special benefits or stuff or bugging people for jobs, etc.  I was just wondering if the IAAPA has any times/places where people are getting together JUST to have fun/ride, I don't know, any of the wild attractions in the Orlando/Tampa area...it's about a 2-hour drive, but I could be real sick and miss a day's work if there was enough fun involved... P.S.  if you would prefer, my IM and/or e-mail is available from my profile...

As far as I know, IAPPA is only for people in the industry. It's a sales convention, not a public forum for enthusiasts to ride at will.

SFA 2002-What are they building?

Wrong.  since ACE is a member of the IAAPA, ACE members can attend the show =)
Either way, I tried to make it pretty clear I was NOT interested in hassling anyone....not looking for anything, etc.  I AM an ACE member but I feel entitled to really, nothing at all except for the cool magazines...just thought that since people IN the industry might actually ENJOY what they do for a living (I know I would)...

Anyone can attend the show. The question is, why would you? I'll get some nice stories and photos out of it, but at the end of the day, it's a trade show, and trade shows are boring.

Hmm. . .I tend to enjoy trade shows. I've enjoyed shows with a subject much more bland then then what goes on at IAAPA but then again, I'm weird.

Yeah anyone can go if you become a member of IAAPA it costs $275.00 for the membership plus a $50.00 application fee.  Then you could get in to the show and become a member for a year.

Still, no one seems to get the question:  is there any timpe/place people might be getting together OUTSIDE of the convention?  (For example, Jeff had mentioned that he was HOPING to go to BGT today, but the weatherman convinced me to come to work today instead...I would have taken off work and driven down there otherwise...).  I don't want to go TO the convention...

So you want to hang out with a bunch of people you don't know from the convention you didn't attend?

No, I only wanted to ride rides...if other people who also enjoy a similar activity WERE interested, cool.  I'd just as soon a mod come and kill this thread now, since obviously there's nothing positive or informative coming out of it...

Give the guy a break. Don't you think a love for coasters is enough for someone from the convention to hang out with this guy at a park?
I think so.

Hey now trade shows are cool, I have been to farm ones, railroad ones, I find them quite interesting.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Well, so far there isn't a lot to talk about at this show. I'm not posting a lot of photos because it's the same stuff that was here last year. Few companies are really innovating, though I've got interesting stuff to share from S&S and Setpoint...

Hmmm....Do tell Jeff!:)

I can't wait to read that one. Stan Checketts has one sick mind when it comes to new rides.
