IAAPA 2003: Brass Ring Awards announced

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) yesterday announced the winners of the annual Brass Ring Awards, recognizing attractions for outstanding marketing efforts.

Cedar Point won several awards in the "class 5" division which includes parks with more than 1.5 million annual visitors. The park scored first place for their brochure, second for their media kit, first for print advertisement, third for radio ad and second for Web site. Dorney Park won best Web site, and along with the Cedar Point site, was designed by Wadsworth, Ohio based Website Design and Development.

Smaller parks were well represented from all over the world in their divisions, while the Sea World parks nailed several awards in the "attractions" category.

Read about all of the winners from IAAPA.

Cedar Point, Cedar Point, Cedar Point. Everything's gotta be about Cedar Point and all. What about MY home park? There, I said it first. Beat all the rest of you to it.

Actually, my whine would almost be legitimate...after all, CF's Minnesota division (which would include VF and KCS-MOA) did score first in television ads, first and second in radio commercials and both second spots in outdoor advertisements...but do we get any love? Nooooooooooo.

In closing, I would like to say that Cedar Fair had better lavish all the money on these fine properties they deserve before they dry up and blow away. Look for my 'Valleyfair 2005' thread to open real soon now.

Preventative rant completed. My work is done here.

This made me laugh:

-MEDIA KIT--
Class 1
2nd Place Cliff's Amusement Park (Albuquerque, NM, USA)

Class 2
1st Place Lake Winnepesaukah (Chattanooga, TN, USA)

Those are done by the same company!

Then you're really not going to like tonights Big E awards results.. ;)

I'm sorry but I just can't help but laugh at that -- I mean we aren't far enough into the off season to start our annual VF vs WOF thread yet. :)

My can of offseason whoop-a** for you was labeled "140% extra for regular price." Whenever you think you're ready, buddy. Oh, and wear those sunglasses--you'll need them to hide your tears.

(Who already knows his spinning coaster's layout)

I would imagine that our layout should be similair to the one at CS:MOA. They are waiting on a height clearance before releasing the actual figures. I'm going to do some searching through the city files to see what they have filed for (height wise). We do know that it will be placed in the old Aquatic Arena area and will not use the old Orient Express lot. Other new stuff for 2004 will include an expanded Halloweekends's offering. Mr. Bender really was impressed with the turnout this past season and plans on adding at least two more mazes. Recent news is that the Orient Express queue house will be used as a maze this coming season, and then will be used for a "future attraction" in the 2005 season.

Oh, did you go to Cheapo Depo to get your giant can of whoop @$$? :) You better BRING IT!

SWOOSH SHADDY! (who can coast until Christmas at one of his homeparks!)

It was from a $1 store...handling you doesn't require much.
Ouch, you cut me to the quick! Now why would a 50 year old man think that he needs to pick on a 22 year old skinny white boy? LOL! I'm seriously thinking about coming up there and kicking your....um riding ripsaw with you. :)

Can't you two start your OWN thread for the annual VF/WoF debate? ;)

Of course, I can't participate since I haven't been to VF (yet), but anyone going to KCS/MoA needs to let me know so I can get more rides on one of the greatest flats ever built....oh yeah, and the new spinning coaster...

bill, thinking CP wins more awards than they're due...after spending time in Orlando, it's the GUESTS at CP who deserve the awards, for loading and unloading in a TIMELY fashion...;)
