IAAPA 2000: Toomer among those honored as living legend

Ron Toomer, formerly of Arrow Dynamics, was named to the IAAPA Hall of Fame for his contributions to the art of steel coaster design. According to Amusement Business' IAAPA Show Daily, Toomer designed more than 80 coasters in his 30 years at Arrow.

Frederick Savage was also named to the Hall of Fame for his contributions in the late 19th century to the design of carousels. Savage patented the device that causes the horses to move up and down.

Jack Ray was the other person named to the hall. Ray designed parks in the mid-20th century, a trade that he learned from his father, who managed Belmont Park in Montreal, according to IAAPA Show Daily. Ray designed parks including Elitch Gardens, Riverside (Six Flags New England) and Belmont in Southern California.
