I-X Indoor Amusement Park coming together in Cleveland

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The I-X Indoor Amusement Park, 52 rides strong, is being constructed by North American Midway Entertainment with 200 workers readying the floor for its Friday opening. This year's entertainment includes a roller coaster thrill ride called the Crazy Mouse.

I went there once about 20 years ago and I don't care to ever go back. I got really sick there. The commercial jingle is so catchy though. "So cool, so fun, what a great place to meet someone..." But my thoughts on that are the exact opposite. I'd recommend anyone wanting to go there to just wait a few more weeks and go to Cedar Point instead, way better value for the money.

I went EVERY YEAR as a kid, then didn't go for about 5 years. I went 8 years ago with my ex and we were severely underwhelmed. Either I was easily impressed as a child, or the place had gotten far less exciting.

Should I admonish you for making today's decisions based on a twenty year old opinion? Comments to the article don't seem to be favorable either, but based more on safety/security concerns not illness. Funny about security- if there's no presence people might feel uneasy and if there's a big showing people wonder what's up with a place that's lousy with cops.

I've driven up to the I-XIAP many times and it isn't that bad a time. I tend to find afternoons when it's not quite so busy, though. If you're jonesing for an early season ride, and if you don't have a problem with a state fair carnival midway, there's plenty to do. I'll admit it isn't as big and showy as it was when they first started.

NAME is a good show with attractive, well kept pieces. I noticed a picture of a Wisdom Himalaya there, and they suck, but they have a good number of majors and a few spectaculars. The article mentions the Crazy Mouse specifically as a ride that didn't appear last year. I can't remember the particulars right now, but I recall there was a problem with getting the ride inspected, approved, or perhaps there was some odd ordinance against it. Something caused the ride to go away for a season, so it's good it's back now.

I don't really see how it could possibly improve in those 20 years. It's just carnival rides, in an indoor space. I'd rather go on rides outdoors where there's fresh air. I think that may have caused me to get sick. It left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. It's just not for me.

I think the mid 90's is where the park was at its 'best.' I remember there being two coasters, one of them a looping Pinfari and a log flume. The amount of rides were crazy.

I went back for the first time in probably a decade last year. It was okay, but I'm not big into spinning rides. And I only got half a ride on the log flume as I got to experience my first evacuation. I hear is not returning this year, is that so? I found myself watching the shows and feeding the animals.

Still, for those who miss the amusement parks and are chomping at the bit I think its a fun thing to do. I might take the kids.

It's worth going to...by far!!

I have gone every year. Yes, some years are better than others.

This year, the spinning mouse coaster is back. They have a fun zipline ride that goes all the way up to the roof, and you zip down.

The best thing about the place is how they run the rides at Ludicrous speed!! Then when you think you can take anymore, they slow it down....and start it up backwards!! The ride cycles are CRAZY long!

I love it, except when I go to CP, and the cycles seem like 30 seconds on gear 1.

It's a HUGE difference when you go on crowded and not crowded days...We're talking National Guard in full gear I'm gonna blow your head off if you look at me wrong crazy (aka days they have some rapper performing for free.) I can tell you they REALLY do profile you walking in.

But if you want to go on less crowded days. Thursday's are great. Avoid weekends (like most parks)...and REALLY avoid the weekend after Easter. The WORLD all seems to be on Easter break the same time this year up here by Cleveland (usually they are all separated...but not this year.)

NEVER pay full price at the gate. There is always deals with Mt. Dew and stop at a Marc's store for discounted tickets.

It really is worth a stop, and by many Ohio theme parks fans...the Start of the Season!! :-)

I live in Cleveland so I've been there 5 times but personally I think it is overpriced. I also wish it was during the winter.

I think spring break is the driver there.
Plus, NAME plays southern dates in the winter, I believe.

I wasn't even sure it was coming back this year, but now I see they're bringing the Dragon Wagon!

Not when you start bashing the Dragon Wagon.

All bets are off at that point.

There's a new law in Ohio allowing you to refuse service to people who like Dragon Wagons. #BoycottOhio
