I played Donkey Konga

Surprisingly, EB Games had the bongos set up last night. Only a few songs were unlocked, but you could see all the songs that eventually were available... seemed like about 40.

The game is better than I thought it would be. I played Wild Thing, Theme from Donkey Kong, All the Small Things and Busy Child. The songs are full-length, not little 60-second snippets like DDR.

For those who don't know, DK is like DDR, but you use a pair of congo drums. Depending on the scrolling symbols, you either hit the left drum, right drum, both drums at once or clap your hands (there's a mic on the drums).

The songs I played seemed fairly easy, but might be much harder for someone not familiar with music games. I think it's going to be a huge hit. I'll buy it.

I saw it in passing at the local GameStop, but didn't check it out. Now I might have to.

I want to play that game. Where did you play it(where do you live?)
EB Games, Polaris Fashion Place mall, Columbus, Ohio.

So that should be about a 10-hour drive for you. :)

Donkey Konga is *so* two weeks ago.

I had the chance to sit and play the game for more than an hour a few weeks ago and it was really quite a bit of fun. All of the songs were available as well. Some of them are instantly recognized, but others didn't work as well when translated to banging and clapping.

It's a ton of fun, especially with four players.

I believe it will be $49.99 when it comes out Sept. 28 (which is quite a deal for a game with a peripheral).

The drums are pretty cool... the heads aren't tight like real congo drums, they're more soft and rubbery. The mic is quite sensitive.

Heh, I played Donkey Konga a few weeks ago at a local Toys 'R Us with a friend of mine. He had played it a bit before and he showed me how to use it. But then I was playing and I didn't know that there was a mic between the drums, so this happened:

*screen shows "clap" symbol*
Me: Hey what do I do here?
Jamie: You have to clap!
Me: How do I clap?
*Jamie claps his hands together*
Me: D'oh! :)
