I may be stretching it, but...

All you lucky guys with CBuzz Club ;) I'm stuck with the default colors.
I have dial-up AND use a rotary phone.

I do not have cable.

I do not have a cell phone.

I got my first DVD player this past Christmas and have used it 3 times since.

I don't know what is so appealing about a thin screen TV, Plasma TV, or whatever the electronic freaks are hawking next.

high speed or low speed, most websites are overdesigned for my taste. Cut the crap and just give me the info I'm looking for. If I want pretty pictures I'll but a coffee table book.

*rant of the day* :)

Please... I might not be a designer but there's nothing offensive about the way this site is designed.

Depends on whether you're a member or not. I just opened CoasterBuzz in a separate browser, where I'm not logged in as a member, and I was bombarded with a total of six advertisements; two which appeared in new windows in my web browser, and four on the main page (and arguably five, including the Join CoasterBuzz link). Amusingly enough, two of these were identical, which seems to defeat the purpose a bit!

Though I agree that the logged in appearance of the site is fine, no problems there :)

I heard that Mammoth Cave in Kentucky is a much better upgrade than whatever the hell cave your living in millrace. ;)

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.
Nah, too many tourists ;)
pkidelirium, you too can be a "lucky" member for only $20. :)

Believe me, it's well worth it if you frequent the site. In addition to the color changing, the pages load much faster without the ads (not to mention the fact that you don't have to worry about them in the first place).

Maybe i should approach their marketing company and offer my cheap services... will develop & design for hundreds rather than thousands (me = building portfolio)...

Putting a high contrast background behind your website is not a good idea. Being that it is an amusement park site I can cut it some slack, but the information and links could be more clear on the indiana beach site. It took me awhile to find all the information I needed when researching the park recently, when it takes me awhile to find something the site isnt well designed.

What I never understood is that a client who drive a Lexus, BMW or some other luxury car still doesnt understand the value a well designed site gives to their companies brand. Imagine sony.com with an all text site.

millrace, you wear coaster tshirts shirts dont you?

As a designer, i believe the KEY essential is to make it easy to navigate and view.

I work in newspaper, so it's critical that things are readable. You can design your heart out, but when it comes to communicating your information it's gotta be easy to read.

Indiana Beach's and Lake Winnie's sites are visually horrible.
Coasterbuzz is clean, neat and visually pleasing.

Less is more when it comes to many forum and information sites.

What do coaster t-shirts have to do with anything? (and no I don't have any).

Not to get into yet another club membership debate, but I still give this site credit as very fast loading regardless. Then again, few sites seem slow on Comcast.

Speaking of changing colors; every time I try to I get the following error "Server Error in '/' Application". It's not that the green, yellow and gray bother me but I'd like to see my other options. Oh, and yes I'm a paying member. Anyone know what the issue could be?
Did you just become a CoasterBuzz Club member? I had that problem when I first signed up. I PMed Jeff about it, and he took a look and said that everything appears fine, so I tried logging out and logging back in, and then it worked fine.

I'v been a member for the past year but I just renewed my membership so maybe that is the problem. I'll try logging out and back in.
Thanks for the help.

I've been trying to find the code that causes that (it happens because your style code gets set to 0 somewhere, and there is no code 0). One of many, many instances where CoasterBuzz is long overdue for a revision.

Hey, I still have a rotary phone... a wall phone... Made by Western Electric (who?) in THE USA. It's the size of a box of kleenex (economy size). The receiver could do major damage to someone's head should they choose to make fun of it. I prefer to think of it as a retro accessory.
Sounds just like the phone my parents had! It began life as a rental phone in the late sixties back when everybody rented phones. We stopped the rental program years and years and years ago but kept the phone. It just started acting up a year or so ago.

They don't make them like anymore. I have a nice big black desk phone with a real bell. None of that wimpy electronic twittering.

And yeah, I would love to own my own prehistoric cave. I've had my sights on a nice one in central Nevada for some years now.

It reminds me of the scene from the recent I Robot movie with Will Smith. He has all the "retro" stuff from 2004, and the psychologist-or-whatever-she-is goes over to Will's character's house and tries to turn on the music by voice commands.

I laughed pretty hard at that part.

EDIT:
Jeff, I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but an idea to looking for the bug: perhaps in the registration settings when processing the coasterbuzz club membership there's a misspelled variable (which would have a default value of 0 in most programming languages). So, for example, if you have a line like: $userStyle = $newStlye; (and it's supposed to be $newStyle) $userStyle would get set to 0. I had a script I was working on for my own site that was giving me problems with setting a variable to 0, and it actually turned out to be a case-sensitive typo. Took me almost 2 days to find it.

The other option that comes to mind would be to add a little check in the code for that page that checks to see if the style code is 0, and if it is, change it to 1 (or something that would be usable by the script). It may be a little annoying to seemingly have the color scheme changed at random, but it's better than not working at all :)

(Sorry I'm a bit off-forum with this, but since it follows the discussion I didn't think it prudent to start a completely new topic in the suggestions forum) *** Edited 3/5/2005 8:12:34 AM UTC by dannerman***
