I lost my original copy of RCT

Well, I got that error trapper screen and like a smart guy I uninstalled it. Well I wanted to reinstall but I can't find my orginal copy! Now all I have is my LL and I can't play it! I know I should have just gotten that clean config thing but I didn't know any better. Is there ANY way I can get the original installed on my comp (such as a download) so I can play LL again?

Nope, you lose the CD, you have to buy a new one.

Yeap the smae thing happened to my cousin.

Thats why I always back up all of my data. The only way to get yours working would be to buy the game.

Look on a filesharing service such as Kazaa. Its doubtful that it would work but its worth a try. That or borrow the game from someone you know just to install the original. If youve already paid for the game there should be no reason to feel "guilty" about getting the files back without having to fork out another 20 bucks when the sequel is due out in a few months.

Getting software which is not freeware off Kazaa is stealing. Stealing is bad, and for losers. Don't do it. Pay for the dumb game again. What is it? $20 now? Thats not much.

Yes, even though I appreciate you all calling me a petty criminal for making such a heinous and communistic suggestion, I still believe you should save your hard earned $20 and borrow the game from a friend. Its not really as big a deal as some people make it. But you know, its cool when people are so quick to make judgements and flame me, and I'm sure that in their infinite moral wisdom they've never dl anything from the internet theyre not "supposed" to. But I digress. If it were me I'd have no problem not paying for the same game twice. Theres millions of copies out there by now, it shouldnt be too hard to find one. Especially for someone I assume at least knows the "i before e" rule.

And by the way, $20 may not be all that much for someone who's got a steady paycheck, but it can be a small forturne for some kids.

You don't get it... I'm a software developer. I expect to get paid for what I do. The mere existance of pirated software on the Internet is offensive to me. The fact that some kid lost his CD is his own fault, not a reason to justify the placement of these files on the Internet.

Actually I dont want to start an argument over this, but I think youre the one who doesnt quite get it. That attitude of "I just wanna get paid and I dont care about even the youngest kid and his problems" is whats wrong with the world today. He's paid for it once already, he's made his contribution to Sawyer and infograms, and has made a financial claim to those files. I'm a big fan of the capitalist system, and believe that people should get paid for their creations but there are exceptions. Do yourself a favor, and borrow the disk from a friend. Getting it off the internet doesnt work anyway...or so I hear. Or am I still just a petty "theif"?

Worrying about piracy is like worrying about people eating dog in Korea, or the pitiful Welfare system in America, illegal immigrants flooding the US borders, or smog in California. They're always gonna be problems because they're not important enough to ENOUGH people out there. You do what you can do about it (i.e. not contribute to it) and move on.

Software piracy hurts Jeff. Air polution hurts me (I'm an environmental technician). But it's not a pressing issue to a majority of the people. I have enough to worry about as it is.

In this case, if the kid's got a legit copy of loopy landscapes, I'd let him borrow my copy. I think (and hope) that Jeff's main concern is the file sharing that goes on at Kazaa and Morpheus.

I appreciate the tip, and am working on that whole "life" thing. But libel is still not cool. Any further input regarding my posts is welcomed. Just so long as its not needless and consuming.... I hate it when people do that.

Do you even know what libel or slander means? Slander is when you say something untrue about a person that is meant to do that person harm usually in a way that will cost them reputation or monetary loss. Libel is when you do it in a press story.

No one cast libel on you because no one here is a member of the media. No one slandered you because you are a petty thief and even if it wasnt true it wouldnt hurt your overall reputation in any way that would cause you to lose income.

To summarize, you are a petty low down weasel and I hope that Jeff removes you from this board for that very reason.

Of couse I'm not a member of the media, and of course this is an infomal forum. The comment was never to be taken as serioulsy as it has. But it makes me feel good to know that calling me a weasel makes the situation that much better, and provides a constructive tone to this debate. I suppose its my own fault this has deteriorated to what it has become with people now "name-calling" something I'd hope we'd all be able to avoid. In any case, you're right, disagreeing with Jeff and his minions is a perfect reason to be kicked off the boards, I am a horrible person for what I've done I'm sure that my comments are as useless as the next. I wish people got this "up in arms" over air quality issues. It'd make MY job a lot easier. Piracy takes away from people's livelihood by eroding their well earned income and perhaps forcing a career change. Air pollution kills people. How come people in Los Angeles who don't carpool or update their exhaust systems aren't petty criminals?

Furthermore, "what's wrong with the world" is not something I have any control of in the bigger sense of the term, so I do what I can in my own little corner. You don't know jack about my interaction with kids so save the character attacks.

The distribution of software illegally on the Internet for any reason hurts developers financially, lessens the incentive to develop in the first place and therefore cripples innovation.

So now that this all about name calling... we're done.
