Yes, they are tied, so to speak, but it's not really a competition. I doubt that the fact that another park, whose thousands of miles away, has the same amount of coasters as you will effect your business decisions, or those who patronize the park

Bottom line... who cares?

According to CP, Magic Mountain doesn't exist ;)

Given that I can only name about 5-6 coasters in each of those parks that interest me in the least, I would have to agree that it's not even worth worrying about.
I'm more more interested in what Knott's Berry Farm and PKI are doing next year than CP or SFMM anyway. X and WT notewithstanding...

There still 14=14. X and WT aren't even open yet! if it was that easy to have a record every park would say they have the most coasters becuase all they have to do is say their going to build them but never do!

So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!

At least SFMM has 15 of their 15 all built and ready to go. CP's 15th is just a stretch of footers.

As of now they are both tied, but SFMM will have its 15th coaster up and running first so when CP's PR department tries telling us they broke their own record, they are full of it. They will be tying SFMM's record =)

Even though Cedar Point and Magic Mountain are thousands of miles away from eachother and aren't competing parks, there still a little thing called Bragging Rights!

I mean, say that there is a mall in Los Angeles that lays claim to being the biggest mall in the world with 900 shops, and then somebody comes along in Paris and builds a mall with 925 shops. The two malls are in no way in competition with eachother, but each would love to hold the title of being the biggest mall in the world and can use that to their advantage when doing their own advertising.

It is the same thing with Cedar Point and Magic Mountain. So even though they aren't competing, technically they ARE competing for the park with the most Roller Coasters. Hence, it still IS a competition IMO.......

(Looking at my watch waiting for the CP vs. MM not competing parks arguements to roll in)

Exactly...they may not be competing as far as markets are concerned, but in the bragging rights war they are going head to head! Most coasters, tallest this, fastest that, etc...
