I hope this is not true (Joker's Jinx)!

Yesterday I called up Six Flags America and asked the communications guy if Joker's Jinx will be running with lap bars when the park opens this Saturday. He responded, "Oh you mean the over head restraints, their still there. Lap bars, no, I was just there the other day, it has overhead restraints".

Lets just hope he didn't know what he was talking about! I got over the fact that there is no new coaster this year, but I was so looking forward to not beating up my head on Joker's Jinx, especially after riding Flight of Fear already this year.

im with ya. it would be nice if they got them on there asap. but at the same time, it may not be that they havent put them on yet because fof got new trains, not just new lap bars. or atleast i think they got new trains.
what time do the gates open at six flags america and what time do rides open?
The gates open at 10:30 am and most rides should be up and running by then.As for Jokers Jinx that thing better have lap bars on it or that's just one coaster I'm not gonna ride as much anymore.I don't see why they would change all of the premier launchers and not JJ,maybe they will start out the season with the old trains and add the new ones later in the season I hope.Another possibilty is that instead of adding the new trains on JJ this year maybe, just maybe they went and added that ferris wheel instead as a replacement for sky escaper.

Well, if they haven't changed the trains out on Joker's Junk, then that's one less ride I'll be hitting if/when I visit SFA this summer.

If they have, then I'll be on Joker's Jinx again and again, line permitting

Why worry about it so much? It most likely will be retrofitted with lap-bars sooner or later, right? Better late than never. I'm sure The Joker's Jinx will follow suit with Mr. Freeze, The Chiller, and Flight of Fear. Just a matter of time. Same with Poltergeist, etc.
well i am pretty sure that there are lap bars on it because there is a coaster zombie event there, and they will be riding jokers jinx with lap bars just go to www.coasterzombies.org and check it out for yourself
The shocking truth is, sometimes, those people you talk to on the phone don't know those kind of things. They know what they've been trained to answer. Not many GP call and ask if a coaster has been converted to lap bars!

Yeah must of those people have no idea what they are talking about. Trust me JJ is getting lapbars. I talked to people at the park last year and they said Jokers Jinx was getting lapbars for 2002. They would not give all these other coasters lapbars and then just skip JJ!
Just a curiosity question coasterking, what makes the people you talked to more reliable than the ones on the phone? The only park people I actually listen to on topics such as this or new rides, etc are those people who distribute the info at conventions like the ones held by ACE. No offense to ride ops or other staff out there, but I'd rather get info from people in higher positions.
Curtis: Well, when it comes to SFA, I take just about anything Sam A. Marks says about the park as hard fact. One, knowing the person he is, he is not interested in idle speculation. Two, knowing the contacts he has, he is in the position to *know* what is going on (the park released the Batwing construction photos via *his* site). S.A.M. wouldn't saw there would be lapbars on JJ for the ERT if he didnt have it on "good faith" that would be the case.

But, as always, you are free to believe whatever you want.

im sure it will as well....i thought i remembered reading something late last fall that said it was. dont know if it was SFA material or not, but im sure it will have the new lap bars...guess i will find out on Sat morning:)

There is always the possibility that delays have occurred. However as Jeremy said, Sam Marks is an excellent source; and I believe I may have also heard this directly from a park official. And, I don't mean the Dippin Dots guy.
We'll know for sure in four days. I'll be dissapointed if they haven't retrofitted the trains, but, I'll still take my ocassional rides. If they haven't changed the OTSR's let this be a warning to everyone not to believe things, just because you read it on the Internet as "truth". I know one thing for sure, and that is that Joker's Jinx sure beats the hell out of Mind Eraser for enjoyability.

Oh so it's better that we believe someone we dont even know about some installation that I *still* dont believe they really *knew* was going to happen.

So how many of you are actually going to opening day? I can't this year cause I'm away at school, but I will be going to KD this weekend!
Well I was planning on attending opening day but due to the fact that one of my friends has got tickets to the capitals hockey game for 7:00 pm on saturday we have moved it up to sunday the 14th instead and it looks like it's gonna rain on sunday at this point,if that happens then I'm stuck waiting another 2 weeks.

Stop talking about Sam, He's banned from this site!

Sam, regardless of whether he's been banned from the 'buzz, is in good with the "higher ups" at SFA....He seems like a pretty knowledgeable guy, even if a *tad* defensive regarding the parks (lack of) staffing....

Even though I haven't ridden JJ, I liked Flight of Fear before the lap bars were put in. But it did make a big help, and I hope all Premiers get the same TLC.

Also if they trains really are getting lap bars, how come we haven't heard anything about this till now?
