I haven't been on an upside-down coaster... which ones are smooth?

BSBMX said:My first looper was SOB. I figured since that it only has one loop, it won't be so bad if I don't like it. .

Im sorry horrible first looper.Other than the 7000 ft of sh$#ty track around the loop it is not that bad of a ride. I rode it out of stupidity with my uncle 3 weeks ago he had never rode it. During the rose bowl it felt like our car was trying to jump out of the tracks! What a POS

Sea monkeys always die no matter what the box says
Rideman said something sometime last year (?) about the track gauage in the bowl being quite a bit off and trains being something like 1/8th of an inch from doing just that some time ago.

I'd search for it, but we all know how fun it is searching for stuff around here.

Sadly my experience is solely west coast centric, but there is a very small class of coasters that I haven't seen mentioned, but that are butter smooth and quite fun when you can find them: Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops.

Heck Montezooma at Knott's is still about my favorite coaster to re ride over and over and over and... well you get the point. :-)

inversions are very overrated in my opinion. I'll take a little pop of airtime before any type of inversion.
Anything that doesn't bear an Arrow or Vekoma nameplate.
Well stated. And Raging_Bull - I think a zero-g roll on a Beemer is way better than a pop of airtime... because you get BOTH. (yay!)
Aren't the Premier zero-g rolls supposedly the best there are? I have not been on B&R:The Chiller yet, but I've heard that they are better than all other rolls.

it depends on what parks are near you really, but you generally won't go wrong with a b&m, although their are some exceptions, also like what was said revolution at sfmm and superdooperlooper at hershey are also pretty safe bets. As far as SFGADv, all are those rides were very smooth to me, except the worst was the great american scream machine. but medusa, chiller, batman, and superman were all very good

North Royalton Bears Baseball- 27-1 ranked #2 in plain dealer #2 in state. May 27th Regionals Lake County captians stadium
Old Arrow: Tennessee Tornado's a good one. It was pretty smooth last year. Dollywood.
Batman KnightFlight (or whatever Geauga lake calls it.)
Avoid any name with the word 'Eraser' in it.
Avoid most SLC's (Serial Thriller/ GL comes to mind.
Most B&M's are smooth. (boy, that sentance could be taken more ways than one.) If it's too rough, just add fiber.

Not all Arrow Loopers are bad. The smoothest one out there is Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood (The Guy who designed this ride is not Ron Toomer). And there some older ones that are still smooth like Diamond Back at Frontier City (this ride has a ton of Airtime though and its a long way up to the platform), Double Loop at Geauga Lake (no Curvy Loops), and I have heard that Lochness Monster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (No Curvy Loops on this one also). If you ride any other Arrow Looper all I can say is hold on tight so you won't bump your head, you may even enjoy those rides.

curvy loops aka corkscrews;)

You can't judge a book by it's cover but you can judge a coaster by the screams
I would suggest...

ride every coaster in the park.
hakuna matata, ok?

Coasters ARE fun, CoastersAreFun. Enjoy them.

Three Arrow *non-shuttle* loopers that I can think of that are good rides:
1) Nessie, still the cream of the crop, two perfectly interlocked loops, NO banging...(but Busch DOES need to keep *all* of the tunnel's special effects working, it is the LAIR of the prehistoric lake monster)....;)
2) Dolly's Tennessee Tornado, the coaster that *should have* saved Arrow (the only COMPANY to build in steel that belongs in coasterdom's Hall of Fame) - the *most inverted* coaster I've ever ridden, feels like you're upside down more often that not.
3) Viper, SFMM....*infinitely* better than the others of its kind. I think of Viper like Cinderella, the other *megaloopers* are just "wicked stepsisters".LOL, even took a lap on GASM-II in July just to make sure I remembered it correctly....then I didn't remember ANYTHING....what a PoS!

The *smooth-EST*? Freeze....perfect inverting shuttle coaster...but it IS faster (and better) in Texas....what ISN'T? ;)

lol..thanks...and i never knew exactly what hakuna matata meant..what does it mean??

Hakuna Matata = no worries.
Haven't you ever seen lion king??;)

Does S:UF count as a first inversion? You do go upside down on the pretzal.

There is nothing to an inversion. Seriously. Its over in a split second and its like 'woah, what just happened' Don't be scared of going upside down.

i'm not sure what to put here..

Don't ride the Double Loop(GL) or Corkscrew(CP). I would recommend the Dominator(GL). This ride is not rough at all. You just have to make sure you get an outer front or back seat.
