I Have No Favorite at PKI

So Pkifanatic..... is your posting name an oxymoron?

I guess I am just oddly baffled as to why you call yourself a fanatic of PKI yet agree with thoughts that PKI really has no rides that are exciting.

Raptorgeist, I think the park is extremely popular especially this and last year because they have such a large selection of kiddie and family rides and coasters. They were even awarded with the first best kids area GT which is a pretty interesting award and have been high on the Golden Ticket Award lists several times in the past. I'm sure a lot of people imcluding enthusiasts find that to be an extra reason to go to the park. They could easily have added nothing and I'm sure nobody would have thought they were even missing anything.

The park itself is one of the best out there and far surpasses any seasonal park I've been to besides BGW and SFGAm. I find nothing average about any of the coasters besides Face/Off and Taxi Jam. I can't think of anything below average or even mediocre about anything at the park and that actually makes me glad in a sense that they removed KCKC and KC. Many guests might have found them to be outdated and pretty useless at the park, so I think they're on top of their game. :)

That's because, Mr. King, you've not yet gotten your arse to HERSHEYPARK ;).

But you're spot on about PKI in terms of rides/service/cleanliness. But there is *one* thing BELOW mediocre @ PKI there food (especially the pizza) leaves "much" to be desired (and that was the nicest way I could put it.

I don't know, the original poster's opinion is certainly valid. But I can't help but think back to a certain "former" member's constant chant to PKI to build the "TERA, TERA, TERA"! This thread seems a thinly veiled way of saying the same thing.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Heres what I have to say for those who are saying PKI has nothing to offer:

Stay out of line. less of a mess at the end of the day, and less of a wait for those who enjoy the rides.

I don't have A (read: single) favorite at PKI either....it used to be Beast, then it was Beast and DZ....then Beast, DZ, flyers (once I learned) and FoF....now it's Beast, DZ, FoF, and Sonny (since "the fix"....not that I don't have a particular *affinity* for the history (and ride) of the KI Racer, or the single-lift suspended Top Gun, or the "coaster in a bowl" Vortex....

What else can I say, I love the kiddie coasters, the "adult" coasters, the flat rides - well, MOST of them...;), the atmosphere, everything except, as noted, their food....a forgivable offense in my book, I go for the RIDES.....

I always hated Vortex until I discovered the secret to not getting a huge headache... riding in the back of the train. Even then, it's only "okay", still kinda painful.

FoF was just plain painful when I rode it. Ugh.

I love the racer, LOVE The Beast, and love SOB.

I liked Face-Off quite a bit, but the wait was way too long.

Top Gun is pretty good for a suspended coaster.

Hated King Cobra, and am glad it's gone. The Adventure Express is okay for kids, but pretty forgettable otherwise.

Well until my SoCal Trip, I just had Beast as my favorite wooden coaster not really thinking what a really good woody could actually be.

That changed though after I rode Ghostrider. After Ghostrider, I feel I can finally say I rode a *great* woody. Beast is just a bunch of laterals, brakes, and no air, don't get me wrong though it is fun. But after riding Ghostrider, I really can have a par to what I think a perfect ride is. It has the perfect amount of airtime and laterals and no coaster has matched the perfection of it. Still not the best coaster to me, but by far the best woody.

Don't get me started on SOB now though, that ride is just like a aneurysm on wheels. My brain got rattled so much on that thing. The only thing good about that ride is the loop, everything else is just way too rough. Honestly, you can tell when a coaster is bad, when they have the frickin' on ride photo right before the lift hill, when you're traveling no more than 10 mph.

King's Island is a little overrated in my book. But still a good park. I'd go there anyday. But I really almost thought Kings Dominion was better. Well, their coasters are anyway.
