I can't get water.. and its not something I'm doing...I hope. Its just a ripple.

I dig a hole, go to the water icon, click it, click where I want to fill to, and this is what comes up.

Heres a closer look at what I mean.

Thats all that happens. Then if I download a save game with water in it, I don't get the water. I just get a hole.

I know its not something that I'm doing wrong because I should Dominator56 and he said hes never seen that before. I'm not sure if its the game or not. The weird thing is, is that if it is the game then why does it have that weird ripple thing.

Any help would be greatley appreciated.

I hope you can help him, I know its not him, I've tried helping.
What kind of Vid Card do you have? I don't have a powerful enough Vid Card on one of our PCs, so, while the game plays well, it can't handle water, thus I don't get any.
I'm not sure at the moment. I'll look that up and get back but I just bought the computer so. I'm pretty sure its good enough.

I'll tell ya how to be sure. Did you:

A) buy a new, updated Gaming Video Card?

B) get a new PC designed for gaming/specifically with a new, higher end gaming Vid Card?

If you answered 'No' to either, then I would say it is because you need a new card to see water.

I'm pretty sure when I was helping him out he has integrated graphics on his pc.

You can't judge a book by it's cover but you can judge a coaster by the screams
I worked on this with him for hours and he's tried everything. I think its that his graphics are poor because its integrated (meaning it shares memory with everything in the computer that requries it for those that are computer illertate).
From a post back in early January:

Follow those instructions. Good luck.

I was having the same problem with water, and it is definitely related to the Intel integrated video. I replaced this file, and it fixed the water problem. Even after the fix, the water doesn't look as good as what you see in screen shots...it's more like the water from RCT2 (although, somewhat better than that).

I just got a new PC...a P4, 3GHz, and lots of RAM. But, it still has Intel integrated video! So, I still had to do the "water fix". I plan on buying an ATI video card, but to be honest, game play has improved so dramatically with the new PC, I'm not in that big of hurry. RCT3 is a completely different game when played on a system that can actually handle it! <g>

Thanks, I downloaded the patch and it worked. Just another question, would I need to get a non integrated video card to see the actual water with reflections and all?

Yes, you need a video card that's capable of hardware texturing and shadowing. Although, I've noticed that with my new PC (which still has the Intel integrated video card), I do now get some reflections on water surfaces.

I'm anxious to see how water will look on the Intel card in Soaked.

I never thought of that for the Soaked thing. I know how they say the water is like glass but that is just rediculous. ;)

I hope it doesn't look like that in Soaked.

Well you know with Corkscrewy's impaired judgement on water, you never know! ;)
