yo who else here is sad to see such a great ride such as the steel phantom go to the scrapyards at such an early age. i know alot of you think it is a bad ride but i love it for its intensity. i will be on the last train the puplic will ride down its black and grey track through the thunderbolt at 86mph.
Heck, I am sad and I havent even ridden it. Ive seen so much about this coaster for the last 9 years and I have been itching to ride it. Hopefully I can make my travels to Kennywood this year to experience it. But if not , oh well, you cant ride them all. Hopefully another park will purchase it.
Chitown, I wish to that another park would purchase it. But, due to its unique lay out, there is a slim chance of this happening.

I was wondering about relocation of the Phantom too. I think the second drop could be modified to fit another area since thats the tallest area of the ride. It wouldn't be 225 anymore but would alow it to be located almost anywhere. I just wonder what will happen to the Phantom next season.

I can't wait for the 2000 season to start!!
Sorry to say this but without the 225-foot drop, the Phantom wouldn't be what it is today. The rest of the ride is okay, but the drop is what makes the ride. I will be going to KW sometime this year to ride it (I have a lot of parks to make it to this year!) and I haven't ridden it in like 3 years. If nothing else, KW will get a lot of people in this year just to ride that coaster...this may be a good PR move. Who knows? Let's just wait to see the replacement, and then we can judge and flame them all we want.
Goodbye Steel Phantom!

I heard some rumors that Dollywood might buy the SP. I somewhat think this rumors is semi true because Dollywood is located on a mountain side that means Dollywood could keep the second drop. Also I heard that Arrow Dyamics might but it back a rework the ride and resale it.
