Hypersonic XLC

I thought the trains were among the most comfortable I've been in for a long while; aside from the restricted movement, that is. I don't understand the two shin bars, though. One of them doesn't even come close to touching my legs...

Amen to that!

I enjoyed Hypersonic's launch but the rest was just OK. I'll take Xcelerator over Hypersonic any day.

I'll second that emotion. I felt like my head was going to burst at the top of Hypersonic. It was an unpleasant experience and it left me with a real banger of a headache for a couple of hours after riding it. The launch was VERY intense though and is one of the best I've experienced. But after that, it all goes downhill. I don't like the end of the ride either - it kind of just aimlessly wanders over the midway on its way back to the station. I think all they were really interested in planning was the launch. I don't think I'd go on it again.

Is XLC one of the smoothest coasters with its rubber tires?Or are they realy hard?

The first half, thru the curve, is smooth.

I felt that B&M and Intamins, with their hard rubber tires, were smoother than Hypersonic and its soft, air-filled ones.

I was there Sunday and it went down for like 30 minutes because two of the bars in the third row wouldn't unlock and the mechanics wanted to fix it (I have seen this happen to different seats on two separate occasions). It ran a flawless two train op, but could really use three, which adds the double station.

The launch is incredible, but I think the hill is also. I find the restraints to be just fine. The ride was smoother opening year (especially through the turnaround) without the modifications, but far less reliable. Way too short, but there is massive airtime on the final hill as well. I just wish the line were shorter.

i thought the the whole ride was prettyy good.It has a great launch, really smooth, and its pretty cool going over the top of the hill also.
I don't understand why all of these new launched coasters are so short... Hypersonic, Xcelerator, TTD etc. I mean, I know that less track after the initial "thrill" (launch & big hill) means less cost, but don't parks understand that these rides are just one-trick ponys and will be obsolete in a couple of years?

Think about it: If Magnum was built as just a 200-foot lift hill and drop in 1989, it still would have brought the crowds to Cedar Point. But would it still be a draw 14 years later, like it is now? I can't help but think, had the parks that built these new launched coasters added some more elements after the first 10 seconds of the ride, they would be popular a decade from now. I can't imagine Hypersonic, Xcelerator or TTD being "must-rides" in 2017!

Weird. This is the first time I've heard anything negative about the airtime or restraints on Hypersonic since it opened 2 years ago. Why all of a sudden is this a painful coaster? The two times I've ridden it (2001 and 2002) I thought it was great. My only complaint is a common one, that it's too short. But for what it is, and what it does, Hypersonic is a very good ride. I found that the air over the crest of the hill (both times I rode in the front) was incredible; not painful at all.

There's so much wasted energy at the end. You're just flying and then those obnoxious brakes come on.

If you have a problem with clones, the solution is real simple—Stop traveling.
Hypersonic runs a lot more reliably than it did in its openeing year, where you were lucky if it was open at all!

The launch is awesome, and the neagtive g's are insane. Stacks better than Xcelerator (IMO), with the main difference being: Hypersonic's launch was awesome everytime and always had me anxious, whereas Xcelerators only had me anxious the first time, and while the overbanks make the ride longer, they are pretty boring.

TIPS:

1) Don't marathon it otherwise you won't be able to walk for the rest of the day!

2) Make sure your lap bar is fully down, otherwise the launch will slam it down into your legs - this is where it is uncomfortable. I had NO pain.

While I don't doubt that Hypersonic runs better and more reliably than it did when it opened, a max of two-train operation (infrequent two-train operation, at that) is odd in its third year of operation.

Especially when those two trains only carry 8 [or is it 10?] people each!

8 people guys. Also it has ran A LOT more reliable than it did the first two years. The first row kicks major butt, but now with the modified front cars, it bumps all the way to launch. I love this ride, but only if it was longer.....

I wonder what would happen if the tires popped.

Busch Gardens Tampa still has Python 26 years later. Don't tell me it's not a one-trick pony. And it isn't a 'must-ride' now, either, but people still ride it. Same with Cedar Point's Corkscrew.

It just better be running reliably when I get down there on the 19th,becausse I don't want to go through the saame experience I had back in 01.

Last time I went it took forever to get on,due to single train operations & terrible amounts of downtime, added to that misery was the fact that they weren't letting anyone iin the queue until the riders who were there since the park opening had been cycled through.

These tires go through a lot more stress on air crafts. I mean, do the tires on XLC go from 0 to like 100 MPH (or however fast a landing plane goes) in less than 1 second during the landing?
