Hypersonic XLC got stuck!

Well I have no way of knowing anything, but I'm gonna trust him. Usually digital cameras have a delayed shutter speed, which would make getting the timign on those pics extremely difficult to match up. Also don't forget that that not every incident is reported on the net. Lots of weird stuff happens in parks, so this one probably wasn't a huge deal. Oh well, that's my theory.
Yes, there IS a wheel at the top, the same kind that push it wround the load area and to the launch. The reason you dont see it in the ront seat is because the angle over the lead car is too much, at least that is my guess.

and yes, there IS a tire at the top of the hill.
There is a tire at the crest of the hill. Just thought I'd mention that. ;)

Damn, didn't know I was going to cause so much of a stir! :) Yeah, I can understand why some may think that it was faked. Heck, if I was looking at the two pics I would doubt them myself cuz of the cloud positions (And actually, there was a third, I was on line for Drop Zone at the time when folk first noticed that the train was stuck, and took the 1st picture. I didn't post it though becaude it's pretty much an unintelligable dot, but I'll put it up now). The two pics were taken about 2-3 minutes apart, roughly. I took the first one, then walked about 200 or so feet toward the building that you see in the lower right of the first picture. Then I took the second pic. As you can see, the two pictures are at fairly different angles, which would explain the cloud cover. (If anyone is interested, BTW, the pics were taken with a T610 mobile phone. Not the easiest camera to time a picture to.)

Anyway, a tire would explain how the train acted at the top and what the tech said to me. I guess when he said that the there wasn't enough 'thrust', maybe they couldn't get enough power to the tire to move the train backwards, but there was enough to move it forwards?

And, wasn't *ANYONE* at PKD Sunday night about 7PM-ish?! (C'omon! It was excellent coastin' weather!) It would really make me feel better if there was at least one other person from this forum who was there that saw the whole thing that could back up my story...

(Who really does honestly have better things to do than make this up! :) )

My gosh, this whole thread is absolutely rediculous. Even if it's some photoshop junkie or someone trying to "spoof" the masses, don't go to extrodinary lengths to beat the crap out of him. As far as I'm concerned, he was there therefore he has more say in it than any of you. Everyone else is ignorant to the subject. Thanks for letting us know Paul.

Wow, you really are "one sided".

BackSeat of COURSE!

Right as the park opened for the day back in late March or April, my friends and I noticed Hypersonic's train stuck / parked / whatever on the spike. It was there for several minutes at least and never moved. We were wanting to see what was up with that, but by the time we got back to it the train was no longer on the spike.

I'm not sure about a drive wheel or the brake layout, but I can confirm that a train CAN sit immobile at the top of the spike for a long time - I've seen it with my own eyes.

BTW, there were some posts on RRC about the train getting stuck on Saturday, with at least a few other people who saw it as well as the original poster. So it's no Photoshop tricks - it happened.

You're locked and ready to fly!

Their are no breaks on the top, just a weel, powered by a powerfill moter, you even realize when it gets to the top slows down fast and goes the same little speed until its off the weel, and what happened is the weel was between the car on the train buthad grip to go foward.

It could be worse, Brent, he could have put it in true "12 year old AOLer" format. ;)

LOL, and here is something you might understand

ARUG. It is not that hard for hypersonic to get stuck at the top. There is a drive wheel at the very top, that controlls the speed at the apex, and if for some reason that wheel would be jammed, the coaster would easily get stuck, because it would act like a brake.
