that is all fine and good for them. i am happy for them. but paramount continuesly ignores carowinds. year after year carowinds continues to pure out nothing but baby coasters. the highest coaster they have is top gun. and it is only 114 feet. that is down right shamefull. don't the carolina's deserve a record breaking coaster? i mean really people. come on. you have to support me on this. what about all the poor people that live in the carolinas and can only afford to go to carowinds. they have no idea what extreme rides are all about. and how good they feel. paramount needs to start there focus on carowinds. please help me people. we need to all get togeather and emial paramount and tell them we want to see bigger and higer coasters at carowinds. this park has been around for well over 30 years. and paramount bought it a few years ago. but they still continue to only build babe rides there. lets get to togeather and demand a bigger and better things at carowinds. please help me on this. carowinds used to be my home park. but i couldn't take it anymore. seeing the rest of the world break records. and carowinds do nohting. so i moved to florida. and i now a very happy coaster nut. i no have busch gardens. that is now my home park. and i am very pleased. but i still want the best one day for carowinds. please help me speak out. thank you for listening. if you like my ideas or want to discuss them with me or have heard some inside news about carowinds. please email me at bobbylea20@aol.com thanks.

They aren't "continuesly" ignoring the park, they just built Super Saturator. It was one of the best moves they ever made. Why? Its appeal spreads across a huge range of ages, according to Setpoint's (the manufacturer) research at the park. A broader appeal means more families which means more gate receipts and more in-park spending. It's smart business. They can't spend a great deal of cash there unless they know they can recover the cost in the following year with increased spending and admissions.

Plus Carowinds doesn't compete directly with BGW. The little "ride war" has been going ever since Paramount bought the park. BGW countered OL:FOF with Alpengeist, PKD came back with V:TBC, then BGW built Apollo's Chariot. PKD needs XLC to take the edge. Then very soon, BGW will bring out something that Takes away from PKD. Remember, all of the coasters i mentioned are still holding, or have held a record or two (Alpie held 4, but now holds 2), and were all firsts of some kind. My opinion...Don't expect this war to be over soon, both parks have a ton of money and they obviously aren't afraid to use it. *** This post was edited by Number 9 on 10/20/2000. ***
Everyone here looks at Carowinds and focuses ONLY on thrills. Carowinds is one of the best overall and family parks there is. They have a great collection of rides. The park has great atmosphere, nice thrill rides (Top Gun IMO is the best inverted there is, Hurler is a great woodie, Vortex was a big advancement for standups when it was made, Drop ZOne is a good free fall ride), water rides (3 to be exact), a GREAT waterpark which will be adding 3 slides in 01, and of course TONS of family attractions. The Super Saturator was an unbelievably good move because it appeals to EVERYONE, no matter how young or old. Plus, the park will get a big coaster in 2002 or 2003 according to the park's co-manager.

I believe that Carowinds' 2002/03 project will be the largest in Paramount Parks.

And to add, Carolina Cyclone had the most inversions when it opened in 1980. Also, White Lightning was the first launched coaster, it opened at Carowinds in 1977.

It's cool to see the parts arrive on site and knowing that this park is only 2 1/2 hours away. I haven't been to PKD since Volcano so this might bring me back in '01. I just wish they would also add some flat rides and/or a drop tower. I love riding coasters but I also like other extreme rides and all they have is the Berserker (inverting pirate ship) for me (I heard they got rid of the airplane ride).
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.I hope it's finished before march 2001.Becuase than I'am going to visite te park.
I think it is scheduled to open mid-March along with the Park official start of the season. I am hoping that the media day will be on a weekday that I am off from school and I will drive 4 hours there. Otherwise, I will have to skip school. :)
