Hypersonic Rollback Question

I was wondering if Hypersonic XLC still rolls back all the time. I have heard rumors of it rolling back all the time, but when I asked a ride-op he said "It always makes it over, I have never seen it roll backwards."

~Hypersonic XLC, the most fun you will have in 1.8 seconds!

I go to PKD quite frequently, and I have only seen it roll back in testing phases. They test it a lot to check how hard the brakes at the top of the incline should squeeze, and it's adjusted to allow the car to barely make it over the top. However they can never control it 100%, so I'm sure it has/could happen. That was one reason it was closed for the beginning of this season and the end of last years. They were testing for things that might affect its velocity, and also supposedly installing new security measures on the launch track (in case a roll back occured). I saw the Volcano roll back one day though, and I'm pretty sure it had passengers. That was two years ago though, I haven't seen it do that since. Just goes to show you that RC's can roll back, it isn't 100% controllable

I went to PKD on opening day last year, in late march, the day that XLC debuted and i happened to be one of the lucky passengers on it when it rolled back. There were maybe 2 or 3 rollbacks that day, and just can i say it was pretty scary rolling backwards down that vertical tower...LOL This is my home park, and i usually get there at least every 2 weeks, and i dont think ive ever seen it rollback since opening day.
Unless operation has drastically changed since last season, the brakes on the tower never touch the train during the ascent. They only work in case of a rollback.

When I was there it would sometimes barely make it over, but other times it could making it over fairly easy. I wish I got to roll back or at least see it roll back.

Thanks for your answers.

Davidnc25 -- You lucky guy! What a ride that must have been.

I saw Hypersonic roll back on its second day of operation. I mentioned that it happened on one of my pages in www.CoasterGallery.com. But from what I hear, it is not common at all these days. So, do you think I am helping the myth by keeping that page on my site?

I would worry less about a rollback on H-XLC than I would worry about not having a rollback on SFMM's Superman!

Now you've got me thinking how great it would be for SFMM's S:TE to have holding brakes......that would be sweeeet!

After my first two spins on H:XLC, all I can say is WOW, that was intense....even got a front-row ride by going single while Jill was *recovering* from her nap on Grizzly....is my memory fading, or has that coaster gone seriously downhill, no pun intended....well, maybe a small one...;)
