Hypersonic getting vertical at Kings Dominion, photos released

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Looking like a fragment from the recent Roller Coaster Tycoon expansion pack on the PC, vertical construction on Hypersonic XLC, the new S&S air-launched coaster at Paramount's Kings Dominion, has begun. If you weren't planning a trip to Virginia this year, change your plans!

See all of the photos in the Paramount Parks media center.

I'm still waiting for that 100mph TA2k S&S said they were wanting to build...

Doesn't this version have lap bars instead of shoulder restraints?
I think so rct
I still think while it will be a cool ride it's not the right one for PKD. None of their steel coasters reach 3,000 feet in length and they always seem to get stuff with the latest innovations but will be underpowered within the next few years. PKD loves to be the first park to have such and such a ride but I think they leave quality to their competitors off of I-64 in W-burg.
I had my worst visit ever to PKD this past summer and this ride isn't the one to get me back in the park.
This is obviously going to be one heck of a ride, no matter how long. Remember the theme of CCI: Bigger is not always better

By looking at the video of the ride it looks like the trains have shoulder restraints and lap bars. I mean, are you kidding me? Imagine going up and down vertical towers 100 some odd feet hight with just a lap bar! Talk about extreme. Can I hear from a safety expert?

-Oh good. Do any of you guys know how to get a chick out of the VCR?
Puddingboy6--The video you are seeing shows the restraints for the prototype TA2K, but HXLC will have only the lap bars... BTW hothitz- no you don't wish it was closer to you.... i live around the corner, and all i have to say is, PKD SUX BGW is way way way better, the only thing better about PKD is the amount of coasters.... PKD is a dirty, nasty, smelly park with short rides whereas Busch Gardens Williamsburg has better food, is MUCH cleaner, and the few rides that they do have are MUCH more worth riding than those shorties at Paramount's Kings Dominion....

ADDED: I agree with whoever it was who said that the prototype looks much better than HXLC because of the change of the latter side of the hill... now see if they had just modified the climb instead of the drop, we'd be set, heh. *** This post was edited by Thrillseeker on 12/21/2000. ***
