"With a 200+ft drop as well. They usually don't have inversions & feature lots of airtime. track length is 5000+ft.

200ft drop is incorrect. Look at the first hyper coaster and get the definition from it. Magnum's drop is 194.8ft.

Your wrong then if youre gonna say that as the first coaster with a HEIGHT of over 200ft was the Bandit at Yomuri Land, don't mean to be picky!;)

"Actually, doesn't B&M refer to their hypers (Raging Bull, Apollo's Chariot, Nitro) as "mega coasters?""

I know that, but its my system, not B&M's. ;)

There are currently 11 coasters with the name Batman, 8 with the name Superman and 22 with the name Boomerang. Batman and Superman: The Ultimate Chiller Knight Flight Krypton Escape Ride.
I have always believed that a a hypercoaster was just a style. A Big coaster featuring hills which result in airtime.
Simply said...
Hyper=200+ft (Magnum XL200)(Note the: XL200)
Giga=300+ft (Millinnium Force)
(two great examples!)
Every coaster is different in length, inversions (if any), etc... there. thats my imput.

When it was built it was over 200 foot drop.... but you know, since it is sinking ;)
jk.

The coaster itself is 200+ feet, but the drop isn't. They made it that way so the train doesn't crash into the ground :)

When will......V2.......open.....*dies* (Vertical Velocity opens next day)
I realize that the term Hyper coaster has never been clearly defined by any. and all of us here love to debate this fact over and over again.
Regardless. Does the commonly accepted definition (a non-looping steel coaster over 200 feet) refer to the height of the coaster at its tallest point, or the length of it longest drop? The Steel Phanton (aka Phantom's Revenge) never reaches anywhere near 200 feet over the ground, yet its longest drop is 228 feet.

Okay, everyone else is sounding off on this so I have to. :) I consider a hyper to be anything with a 200+ ft drop, be it steel or wooden with a loop or whatever. And something that's 194.8 ft fits in as well.
