HW Employee on '60 Minutes' this Sunday

We just got word that a segment "60 Minutes" shot back in the spring is going to air this Sunday (CBS, 8 pm ET).The 60 Minutes segment is titled “The Age Wave.” According to CBS’s website, “Workers over the age of 55 will almost double – from 18 million in 2000 to more than 33 million by 2025. Morley Safer finds some people already in this wave, between the ages of 81 and 102, who just can’t retire.” They interviewed Frieda Foertsch, 92, our greenhouse manager (or "plant manager" for you punsters) about why she has no plans to retire. Frieda has worked here more than 45 years! Hope you can tune in! Paula

If I had a career at HW, there's no way I would retire! It's obvious you all treat your employees well, given their unwavering friendly demeanor.

You guys treat employess with the upmost respect. Why would anyone want to leave or retire?

Wow, *plant manager*....Paula, 'Moosh stands no chance against the REAL *queen of puns*....you could even say that Frieda has "deep roots" at Holiday World...:)

On a side note to the "older worker" phenomenon, I remember back a few years when Knott's was just a smidgen below HW in terms of friendliness, etc. It was clearly the cleanest and friendliest "chain park" I had ever visited. They've gotten a LOT younger, and things have deteriorated. Maybe I'm becoming an *age-ist* in my later years...;)

She likes it so much, she's never going to "leave." Her love of the job "stems" from being treated well. She has "branched" out into other jobs at the park. Har har.

She's really *blooming* at HW....what "flowery" speech! Frieda's really "branching out" these days, huh?

edit: Den stole my *branching*....from now on, I'm keeping all my vegetative puns locked in my *trunk*...;)

Holiday World seems to "weed" out the bad employees. I can't wait "till" I can get back there. These jokes are so bad, you should "rake" me over hot coals.

You know, I used to work at an orange juice factory but I got canned. They said I couldn't concentrate so they squeezed me out. I am going to ap-peel the decision.

I'm going to "hedge" my bets and say that she'll be there for a long while. "Mum's" the word on her retirement date.

We could never fire Frieda...on what "grounds" could we let her go?

Plus it's fun to dish the dirt with her!

One more bloomin' pun, and *I'm* going to retire! :)

Well Paula, we want you to stay at HW *forever* (perenially?), but I have been pushing for your job on an *annual* basis ever since our first visit to HW....;)

BTW, you *have* noticed that Dave's ROLLBACK features a HW news item today, right...:)

Sounds like when 60 Minutes was looking for people to interview that Frieda rose to the occasion ;)

Thanks for pointing that out, Bill. It's also William Albert Koch III's birthday. Will's wife, Lori, had such big babies that they decided to induce labor a tad early for baby #3...and it worked out that they could do it on Mr. Koch's birthday.

Oops....do we need to "stick" to the topic? Man, you're going to get me in trouble. (Can you find the pun in that last sentence? It stinks.)

RM - When wondering about 'branching out, just consider the company. (Yes I know Den already used that one)

Chris, 'stumped' for a good pun today. (I even had to borrow that one.)

Ah...the job I would like to do when I retire from my current, high stress job. I've always loved working with plants and landscaping and getting down and dirty.

I'll be sure to tune in on Sunday to watch!

CPLady likes getting 'down and dirty,' eh? I guess she wasn't kidding about her preference for WT. ;)
