Yes! I slide around too much in the current seats to enjoy riding them. I have to push myself back all the time just so I don't fall forward!
It looks interesting but one of the things I really like about the Enterprise is the lack of any restraint. Although more open, this will be just like sitting in a looping coaster. I'm not sure if this is an improvement or just a redesign because parks tend to like riders that are restrained.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I like it. I am always for a more open riding experience. A lot of riding for me is the visuals. I do fear, however, that it will nullify some of the impact of the forces felt during the ride. Like GDdashROM said, you have to push yourself back all the time. For me that is a feature of the ride, not a defect! If you are stapled in you won't slide around.
One other note. My five year old grandson is tall enough to ride the enterprise at Great America (IL). With these restraints, however, I am betting that would no longer be the case.
It will be interesting to see if any of the parks update their existing installations with this ride. The ride would be different enough that it could sell it as a new attraction for the coming year. Hell, Six Flags marketed Larson Super Loops as a new coaster. They could get away with marketing a new looping, floorless ride.

Indeed. One of my favorite rides as a teenager. And not because of the ride experience itself.
I haven't been on one of these in a long time, but I have nothing wrong with the reboot.
It would seem that the new design, with 2x2 seating, capacity could increase by a good measure; however, the new restraints could affect load cycle times and negate some of the benefit.
I am partial to the depicted set up of both seating formats available but having ride-ope manage that seems like it could lead to a handful of issues.

Increased capacity, better visibility for the ops, no face bashing should the ride stop (read: safer), and the new restraints can only help. Currently, on most models the rider can no longer reach the door release. If these restraints automatically release once the ride is stopped then there's no wretched waiting for the op to make her way around to open each door, and the riders can get out all at once.
The 2G Plus is interesting with it's flat/tilt action, it makes it almost like a huge version of that awful, old butt-plasterer ride Force10. I reckon with the longer ride cycle it can only lead to more barfing. Plus, it's similar to Chance's ill-fated Chaos, hopefully more reliable. I can't think of a reason why anyone would order a 2GH model with both vehicles.
So it seems Huss is spending time these days re-inventing old rides of theirs, with the new Condor and now this. I wonder how many operators out there will trade in their old Enterprise for a new one?
edit: btw, Mike and Vater, around here we used to call that "canoodling". I can see how this new version would make canoodling very difficult.
edit2: It's come to mind that Huss re-invented the Enterprise once already with their FlyAway, basically an Enterprise with lay-down flying seats. Didn't SFNE have one of those? and maybe Alton Towers?
I wish they would redesign the UFO next. (once again, an Enterprise base and wheel reconfigured with standup seats. Like a big Roundup)

Force10 was exactly what I was thinking, RCMAC, mainly because of the seating arrangement and the way both rides tilt back parallel with the ground while the ride is in the lifted position. Lakemont Park had a Force10 for a season or two back in Abraham Lincoln times.
One feature I always liked about the enterprise that this ride will not have is how you are not restrained. That makes going upside down pretty thrilling. Centripetal force is the restraint.
I can think of one park that might give serious thought to replacing a problematic twenty-five plus year old Enterprise with one of these.
Yes, I fail to understand how a ride with a molded seat with a crotch horn and a Skyrush-style lap bar on it is 'less confining' than a ride with an inline-tandem bench seat that doesn't even have a seat belt. Sure, the cage is gone, but this trades rider "containment" for rider "restraint".
Besides which, there is a long standing tradition of unrestrained seating on anything called "Enterprise". 8-)

This looks like fun.
The platform formerly occupied by Flight Commander at Kings Island looks like a great spot for one of these. I wouldn't miss Skylab nearly as much if one of these were installed there.

One thing that strikes me about this is how modern it looks, It has a distinctly not carnival look to me anyways.
I could see it attracting riders by that appeal alone as it doesn't look like its 30 years old. I also think it looks fun to ride in the enhanced version that levels out at the top.
I agree, the thing I liked most about the original Enterprise is that there are no restraints. That's much more a feeling of freedom than being in a open seat with a lap bar IMO. Hopefully the parks that get this get the mixed model with both types of seating.
It would be good if some parks get this ride back. Even though it's from the 70's, it is still an impressive ride with a great "awe" factor.
Although I agree with Blackie about Skylab, I'm still wishing that someday Flight Commander's old spot would be filled by a big Air Race. It would be perfect for there.
That looks like it would be a perfect ride for MIchigan's Adventure. It has a Chaos look to it, and the park certainly needs a good thrill ride. I think I would like this ride better than an enterprise. I think the seating alone would give it a different feel. With the restraints, they could probably even run it forwards,and backwards.
I would certainly ride it. Love stuff like that. Chaos at MA was my favorite non coaster ride.
