Hello, I have lurked around for a while and this is my first post. A friend took this on vacation. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. You can hear his wife trying to calm his young girls. They were pretty shocked.
It amazes me stuff like this doesn't happen more often, with how used to the environments at the parks the birds get. Also, in a slightly related aside, I sometimes wonder how often the Illuminations crew has roast duck as an after-show dinner. :)

My guess is never. Have you SEEN the Duck Exodus befor that show?
This should be shown to all the idiots out there that think its okay to retrieve their lost hat. Poor dumb little bird.

Actually, after watching the show most every night for about 6 months I saw birds perched on the barge up until right before the first burst of flame more often than not. Yeah, a lot of them seem to be smart enough to clear out, but a lot don't seem to be that smart, either. I've also seen birds/ducks return to it after the Chaos scene until the fireworks start going off again. One night there was a duck floating right in front of one of the perimeter cannons, which made for an entertaining moment when it went off.

When we used to test ride Blue Streak in the mornings, birds would always fly up between the first 2 speedbumps and get hit. On track walks, the poor birdie bodies were everywhere. One time we found a squirrel.
This happened a couple a weeks ago on the Rockit in the studios. As the train was coming through the old ghostbusters building it hit a pigeon and the 2 pieces of the bird fell and slid down the road towards the library facade. About 10 guests ran over to see what it was and were surprised to see what actually came flying off the coaster.
Its sad when your best friend asks you the exact running time of a ride. Good thing I didnt know.
If that wasn't Dave's video, I would have thought it was photoshopped. I guess if you don't look at the train it can't hit you (in bird mentality).
The video in context. Doesn't work right on a portable device...but that video clip is actually a loop.
I can assure you that the video is not doctored in any way, and I congratulate Bill for having the patience to go wading through some ten years of Cedar Point trip reports to find it! 8-)
(In fact, where's that +1 button...)
On another occasion, also at Cedar Point, I was watching a duck that was swimming around in the Venture kiddie raft ride, swimming along and carefully avoiding getting run over by the rafts...

Doesn't even look as bad as my Bird Encounter on Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. I got bits of bird remains on me but not as bad as the partner I had with me where he had it all over his face and clothes. I have called this experience being Flavioed on a Coaster named after Flavio's Bird Encounter on Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, VA. On TTD we were both fine just had to clean up the mess from the bird.
