Huge new park planned for Pittsburgh

Posted | Contributed by eightdotthree

A Pittsburgh-area developer wants to build a 400 acre amusement park near the airport. The park would include all of the traditional elements, including a water park and indoor "snow dome" for year-round sledding. A representative from Kennywood thinks there's plenty of room for another park.

Longest ride time? Probably The Ultimate if I had to guess. The Beast is about 5 minutes from dispatch to unload, but The Ultimate runs slower according to RCDB... anyone know for sure?

Longest overall track footage is of course Steel Dragon 2000, but since it goes about 30 mph faster than The Beast and doesn't have two lifts, it's going to finish faster. (OK, technically it does have two lifts but they're on the same hill...)

Next to an Air Port is kind of a bad place to put an amusement park if you ever want to try to brake some records. Probably no Hyper coaster or even a space spiral.
As with all the amusement park proposals I hear, I'll believe it when I see it.
Intamin Fan,

I suppose the other parks have room. Kennywood owns three other parks, plus rides and structures are always being replaced at Kennywood itself. Just a thought ya know?

Id also have to agree with kraxleridah in saying that this park, if built, will ultimatly become six flags pittsburgh, or pa. That just might be bad news for Kennywood.

Nope, no it wouldn't. I would personally prefer Kennywood over a Six Flags park any day, and I know there's a fair demographic of people (read: not 12-24) that would agree with me. Besides, a fair # of Pittsburghers have visited SFWOA... once. That same fair # of Pittsburghers visit Kennywood around once... a year.

I won't believe anything until I see it, but after looking at their website, this group appears to have funding for what amounts to very rough plans for an amusement park.

We'll see.

come on get serious, big pie in the sky dreams for a themer in the pittsburgh area. population growth O... 105 million wouldnt even pay for the land clearing let alone the 400 hundred acres that are proposed. In your dreams (MAYBE).Mary lou Rosenmeyer was on the local news and even said that the populationn growth here (O) would not hold a new amusement park. This Jarvis guy needs to really think about what he is proposing before he even puts this dive bomber down on paper. UsAir wants 700 million to stay at The Pitt International airport. The city is in almost bank ruptcy, AKA a indoor race track, slot machines at race tracks etc... and on... and on .... and on....all proposed here in this area and never materialized
Sorry Mary Lou Rosenmeyer is a spokesperson for Kennywood park.I failed to mention that in the themer 2 article that I just entered. And A really great lady I may add. Kennywood park in my opinion is one of the best Amusement parks in the United States. It run very well , Always clean, well staffed and very secure. The ride package that they have at Kennywood can rival any amusement park across the country.Another amusement park in this area ???? It would be hard to match Kennywood or Even come close. As you can tell, Im a BIG kennywood Park Fan..
There is a cheep website that they could get rides off of. Plus they're loaded!!!
