Huge carousel coming to Chicago zoo.

I figured we have at least a few carousel enthusiasts on these forums so you might be interested in this.

Brookfield Zoo will open the largest non-restored, handcarved wooden carousel in the country this summer. It will feature 72 different animals and three chariots. This project is being done by Carousel Works.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

So THAT'S what that thing is going to be, wondered about that. BTW that zoo is excellent and is a lot of fun year round as most of the exhibits are indoors.

You sure they aren't ripping it out of Great America? ;)

Does "non-restored" mean it is a new carousel or an old one that has seen better days? ;)
An article in a Chicago paper has the story of this new carousel.

I hope it's better looking than that ugly looking thing that Chance-Morgan put in at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
