How will the supports/lift handle the weight of X

Will there be a traditional chain lift? How are the supports and towers designed? The weight of X trains are X teme. Will this coaster be able to handle all the stress of such a long and heavy train?
The Supports on X are much like the ones on Golioth and Titan. So they will have to be able to handel the weight of the trains or else it would be a deadly ride ! that would be very scary !
Wow, TITAN_FAN_13 got it right! Of course the coaster will be able to handle the trains! Do you honestly think that Arrow would be stupid enough to design a deadly coaster? Thier company is riding on this coaster (no pun intended)!

Oh, and it will probably have a chainlift, not a cablelift or anything special. I doubt Arrow wants to go waste time on developing a new kind of lift system for themself. They have enough work to do on X already!

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there! *** This post was edited by TrBiggar on 5/20/2001. ***
Besides, they already gave a prototype a test and it worked great.

yeah wha do ou people think they are not going to risk their company in designing something deadly. Duh!!!!!

Well there was problems with the Bat with steel columns cracking from the weight of the suspended trains. In fact on the suspended proto type Arrow did not curve the track on the helix and turns which added to the stress of the structure.
I'm just asking design questions.

I understand that Arrow create a mock design with two sections of a train and a very limited track (a few hundred foot section). I also understand that technology has increased dramatically. What I'm asking is long term questions about wear and tear of this structure.
You must remember that the 4D trains are 75ft long and weigh a few tons. There has never been a train that has the length and weight of these trains. From the pics I have seen the structure doesn't look as if it is reinforced any differently then a traditional steel coaster.

Weight, probably, but length....X will pale in comparison to the ungodly train length of Chaos at Opryland. Believe it or not, that sucker had a 40 car, 80 passenger train! And, the people seat front to back, making it even longer. The station was a giant "U" to make the load area smaller!

Hey, is the X train really 75ft? That is pretty long! (Anyone know how long that huge thing on Chaos was?)

Well X will use a regular chain lift, the lift system/anti-roll backs are already being installed. You can see the begining of the installation in one of Karls pics he just took yesterday.

Far as the structure being able to support the weight and stress of the trains it will be able to with no problem.Have you seen the structure or the pieces of X in person, No camera can do it any justice everything about X is huge. Plus X is being built in California so it has to been a really strong structure it want be able to open, b/c of the possiblity of an earthquake comming through nocking it over it has to be really really strong. Arrow also know what happened last time they designed a coaster for SFMM (VIPER)and what happened when it didn't have enough support structure, the turn around on Viper was about to snap b/c of the high forces the train was putting on that turn so Arrow had to add some more supports to it. Far as the bat goes it was a protype ride and they had to create it by hand now days they have Super Computers to make sure the coaster works perfectly. *** This post was edited by rob4420 on 5/20/2001. ***
The track is quite beefy on X. Look how wide apart the sup[ports are on Intamin coasters! Intamin treack is quite beefy too. I am sure that Arrow has worked out all of the structural problems with X. Or at least we hope.....

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
I'm pretty sure X will be fine. Remember, the bat was back in the early 80's, not much computer stuff back then. This is 01, they have all the stuff worked out on a computer, over and over and over to make sure it's going to be safe.

You just design the supports for the required loads. Really not that much too it.

The Bat seems to have suffered from a failure to fully understand the dynamics of a swinging suspended coaster which caused several problems. It sure was a fun ride though.

I really don't see the connection between Titan and Goliath's trains and X's trains, since they are nothing alike. But nonetheless, I'm sure Arrow has figured this out... Hah. :)

Arrow has been in situations like this, they invented the corkscrew and inversion. Now don't worry about the weight. Why do you think SFMM has been preparing footers for months! Problem solved.

My prediction... Upon the very first test the lifthill chain will break, the track on the lift will warp out of shape, the train will travel the course so roughly that the spinning cars will shake off, the entire structure will crumble to the ground and somehow burst into flames, killing all people within 3 square miles!!!

Get serious people, X will be just as safe and structurally sound as any other coaster in the world. Just because it is a first-of-a-kind does not mean that it will fail right out of the gate. And yes, computers help, A LOT!

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
LOL! Soggy. Your starting to sound like me! ;)
Lets put it this way: The construction of X is the most intriguiging event of the year. There are really quite a few things that are still a mystery, and I don't know about the rest of y'all, but i am really looking forward to watching this puppy go up.
