how to fix a hot impulse coaster

Joe Carroll:I was there too, and i waited the whole time it was down. Some ride ops where saying it might be down for a couple of hours, but we waited for it, and got the second train out, I did notice heat coming from up top though.

Yeah. They didn't say how long - that was "unknown". I waited about a 1/2 hour. I wanted to wait longer, because we were maybe 3 or 4 cycles away from our ride in the front seat, and we had used our last Fastlane punch. But my friends refused to wait any longer. They did give us exit passes though, and we used them for Raging Bull. We came back to V2 at 9:50pm for out last ride of the night - that is when I was feeling the heat from the LIMs.

I was in line in the front. I had on a green Son of Beast shirt with a tan button down (but open) shirt over it. Red shorts, black sunglasses. I was with 2 girls, one with short dark hair, and the other with curly blonde hair. By chance did you see us ? It would have been cool to meet. Maybe next time...watch the meeting calendar.

I was at GAm yesterday (the 11th) and we were going to go on V2 first. we were at the fast pass entrance when it broke down and they said it was going to be an hour. well we had entered the park at 6:30 so we went to ride other things. we never came back to V2, but I have to get my one friend on it. she hasn't ridden it and I was really hoping that she would make it on when we were there yesterday. oh well. if anyone was there when it broke down at 6:30 I was in a black Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back shirt, a white Universal Studios hat, and sun glasses near the fast pass entrance.

I thought of a way that I felt could easily be retrofitted to help cool V2....

I say replace the steel brackets with aluminum brackets, with the slanted reinforcements being replaced with several fins of the same type - a big ol' heat sink if you will. Then, to make it more efficient, have a channel (pipe) running through the heat sink, with water pumping through it to help dissipate the heat...."

This might help some, but the real critical problem is the temperature in the middle of the coil. You still need to get the heat out of the middle. This is why large transformers are oil coiled. The oil actually flows around the windings to cool things.
Yay! GO THERMODYNAMICS!!

I guess only a few of us are blessed with the ability to understand thermodynamics...
