How is everything going at Geauga Lake?

After 80 years, the Big Dipper still runs better than any Intamin, and will always be taken care of by CF because of it's history. If it wasn't for the success of the Dipper, Geauga Lake might not be what it is today.

I'm really suprised at everyone here. I've been to the park twice a week for 3 weeks straight now, and everytime it was busy. Yesterday (July 8) I had to park in freakin' D section, thats almost the overflow lot on the North Side.

Weekdays vary, but weekends, every single one for over 3 weeks now has been packed. Rides side is very busy, yet rides still are short waits.

Steel Venom had a full station with line yesterday, around 8pm. X-Flight was running both stations, so the line for it was only bout 15 minutes. All rides had some sort of ridership, and of course WWK was packed by 1pm.

Whoever is thinking that crowds are as light as they were the last two years, your sadly mistaken and I suggest getting to the park to see what I mean.

Head up on a Saturday, you'll be suprised to say the least. Weekdays still vary, but are still busier than years past and even the early season this year.

There are already articles being posted about GL turning a corner, so fourth and so on. I'm not sure how one can assume how the park is if they only been there once this year, earlier in the season. Go now, on a Saturday, if you don't believe this.

Heck, show up on a weekday even, it's still impressive over the last few years.

I just don't want GL being seen as "light crowds" everyday as that is not the case anymore. The people have started to come back.

lakecrystal, I was there yesterday and I will agree it was packed. I was very happy to see the people. Dominator and Steel Venom running with full trains was a great sight to see.

BTW, I ended up parking in section B-2 near the beginning of section C-1.

I also think people have forgotten about the animals. I haven't heard anyone mention them during my weekly visits to the park.

X Factor

Yea, not to mention that now when you walk into WWK, it doesn't even feel like Sea World was ever there. They did a really good job of transforming the property.

I too have only heard great comments on the park and no more of the "Where's the animals" questions. Things are finally turning around for Geauga Lake.

They took a struggling park and turned it into a great family destination. And the families are definately taking advantage of it!

Great reports from everyone who goes. Now if we could only get the nay-sayers out there. One trip in ealry June is not the answer my friends. Go now, you'll see a difference. It's inevitable.

Alright, my trip was great. I went with my gf and she rode some of the woodies with me (she doesn't really do coasters) but none the less here are my observations and opinions on the park thus far. Old remnants of old water park is really depressing and needs to be taken out so at least its not an eyesore when riding skyscraper. Trams are great, use them. Wildwater Kindome was amazing, it was full and most of the action was there, tons to do. Logging show was a bore, they need to get rid of it. Magic show with Michal Mage was awesome, you should see it. Also attendance at the park seemed rather busy, not much for lines, but there were small lines, but it was very busy by 3 or 4 well until the rain hit that day. Love how the park is doing...but they need to turn on the waterfalls on Grizzly Run! Overall, It was fun. I expect they have plans for 2007 or working on something, they desperatly need it to fill empty spaces. If your close you should go.
One waterfall is slightly working, it's more like a trickle, but it's working. It's not exactly a big waterfall, but it's enough to get most riders wet as it falls right in the middle off of the roof to the first cave.

I just noticed this as being on only in the last 3 days. Like I said, it's not so much a "waterfall" but more like just water pouring down from above, just not heavy by any means. Or something to that effect.

yea i noticed i got a trickle when going through the cave...well only reason my butt was soaked is at the end our boat road up on another with water pouring in at one end literally until we hit the wooden lift belt.
My reason as to why Grizzly Run doesn't have the waterfalls on is the fact that the ride does not have seat belts. People would stand up to try and avoid the waterfalls, thus increasing the risk of someone getting injured or falling out of the raft. If you want to get wet, hopefully there are people on the overlook deck by Dominator's flatspins/corkscrews who want to shoot the water cannons at you.

I am hoping the park will install seat belts, at least next year since the ride just opened up in the past week or so, so that the waterfalls can be turned on again.

X Factor

Yeah the seatbelts are definately a factor.

Well actually they just did install seatbelts.

Seatbelts don't do diddily. Grizzly Run at Darien Lake has seatbelts that fit across the riders that sit as a bench-seat (ie: 1 belt covers 2 riders)... the belt is extremely loose, and there are a LOT of spots where you get completely drenched on Grizzley at Darien Lake if they got the water troughs & waterfalls completely turned on....

...with that in mind, you still have some people that get up and try to move. The seatbelts do nothing more than offer false protection. Personally, I find seatbelts on that kind of ride stupid considering that on more than one occassion, a river-rapids ride has overturned, and last thing you need to be is stuck in the seat upsidedown caught in the seatbelt when the boat overturns.

yea little velcro belts..
