How is BGT been lately....

Well my plans changed again and now I'm heading up to BGT this Tuesday.

How is BGT overall as a park..I have never been before.

Anybody that goes often has any tips for me about the park about like what to eat and where I should start off in the park...front or back...what to ride ect..

A quick question about the Fun Card ticket...can you buy that at the gate and it is good for the rest of the season right?

Thanks

BGT has great coasters...Montu and Kumba are both worthy candidates for a top-ten steel ranking. Scorpion is an excellent (compact) Anton looper. Gwazi is back in the shape that it SHOULD be in. Even the Wilde Maus, er, Cheetah Chase runs very well and hits the brakes very little for a mouse (none at all on the top level). Python is a credit, but not a credit to Arrow corkscrews in general, LOL.

If you want to maximize riding, go to the back AT opening and work your way towards the front by going thru Timbuktu to hit C.C. and Scorpion, then Montu and finally Gwazi after the lines have shortened.

I was there on a weekday last week, and BOTH sides of Gwazi were running...even dueling upon request.

The Katonga show got great reviews from some family members, although I've yet to see it.

Fun Cards can be purchased at the regular ticket windows at the front of the park right before the entrance gate. It is good for the remainder of 2004, but includes no parking or discounts. If you're in the area, it might serve you better to consider a silver or gold pass, which are good for 1 or 2 years, respectively, and includes not only parking but discounts on most (if not all) food and merchandise...

Side note #1: Busch is open until 10:30 pm now thru 8/1, it's a special they've termed "Summer Nights"....a great opportunity for some rare NIGHT rides on the coasters. I also LOVE the night lighting at parks, and really enjoyed to get to see BGT that way again....first time since Joe and Keith came down for New Years' Eve. :)

Side note #2: Double-training was the rule when we were there last Weds., even though the lines for Gwazi and Kumba didn't really NECESSITATE the extra trains...even with the horrendous operational policies on Gwazi, having every coaster but Scorpion and Python running multiple trains meant LOTS of easy rides...let's hope this turns out to be more of a regular thing with them, it certainly made the visit WAY more enjoyable. :)

Overall, I'm giving the recent changes, upgrade, and ride additions a HUGE thumbs-up...I have been pretty hard on the park at times, and now is a great opportunity to praise them for the things they're doing right! :)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Thanks so much rollergator!

Anybody else got any helpful tips or advice?

Thanks

Long live the coasters!

I went a couple of weeks ago and the park was dead, despite the fact it was a Sunday.

If you want to do Rhino Rally, do it early that line moves slow. My suggestion, hit Montu (2X), do the Rally, Cheatah Chase, Scorpion, Kumba (2X), Congo River Rapids (excellent ride), Python, the Log and Big Boat ride if you want to, take the skyway back to the front then hit Gwazi.

I was at BGT Tuesday as well. I was happy with most of the park despite it being incredibly hot. The only downside of the whole trip was when I found out that they quote, "don't run both sides at the same time any more." This made me really unhappy. In my honest opinion, Gwazi was not much fun when not dueling. I don't understand why parks do things like that. It definately wasn't for capacity issues because the park was empty. In my opinion, Busch Gardens is wasting a great GCI coaster. *** Edited 6/27/2004 5:54:59 PM UTC by CoasterMatt***

BGT is to have good grammaringly.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

When I was there Gwazi was dueling, occasionally. The employees tried to keep it dueling, but if an event (example handicap load) threw it off they wouldnt cease operation. They would, however, after a few cycles have it dueling again.

Wow, Gwazi's dueling again?! <faints> Now I'm going to have to run to Tampa and do night dueling Gwazi rides for ol' times sake!

The Summer Nights promo is great btw, the park usually empties out that late and riding Kumba and Montu at night is such a great experience. Especially since the park has subdued nighttime lighting for the most part, so Kumba is especially dark and Montu has a cool, subdued lighting motif.
