How high is too high?

nasai: Yes, Nemesis does kick some major A$$. I think it's my favorite inverted (but wait, what about Montu...).

I think Cedar Point would have really "missed the boat" if they had not followed Millennium Force up with another record-breaker from Intamin (and I'm making an assumption based on popular theory here). What Jim Fisher said was probably right, though, creations like Millennium and Steel Dragon come at significant cost. Intamin has some unique designs that can break impressive height records and still remain economically "feasible."

There is NO limit. Hell, if they can build a Skyscraper that's WAY taller than a coaster...they can build a coaster that's that high as well.

Actually Lewis, I love drop rides, but they aren't coasters. I can see the ride is what it is.... I don't know if it makes sense. I just want coasters to do more than one thing. I actually don't like MF that much either. Color me weird, but I don't like the "speed" thing. Loops don't do me any good either....I just can't stand Arrow multi-loopers...:( I guess I am old fashioned, but I like woodies more than anything due to the extreme forces, changes of direction, mega laterals, and drama. There just isn't anything like them, IMHO. .....Then again, I have never ridden SROS at SFNE;)

Do you want drama? I'll give you drama...
I am sure that local building codes also prohibt coasters from going too high. I think Alton Towers has such a limit, that is why Nemesis is build above/below ground. I think that is also why one of the Intamin Impulse coaster at one of the park had to be tilted to 45 deg. instead of vertical. Since many parks are in rural towns, I think the neighbors might get erked at seeing a 700' web of steel on their skyline. I'd like to see a 700' mine shaft coaster!

If I wanna go 400 ft, 100 mph, I'll jump out of a plane. At least I don't have to wait in line!

Building and zoning regulations and FAA regs limit the height of coasters at some parks, but there are otheres where there are no limits. Alton towers is perhaps the most restricted with nothing allowed above the trees.. SFKK is limited by its proximity to the Louisville airport. SFA is limited to 200 feet by local law. I'm sure that there are others. Many other parks have no such limits and could build far higher than any existing coaster.

4 hits is way too high

Really 4? It takes me that much just to see orange dots. Normally 6 does it.

Higher the better IMO (now talking about coasters)

nasai, I was thinking somewhat of the same thing. Naturally, as coasters get taller, they will get more expensive. Then, they will feature less elements, such as a tophat then brakes. If people call MF a one trick pony, what will they call this?
