How Good Is Hershey Park?

Herseypark is great if you're a Twizzler but it would suck if you're a Hershey Kiss [those who've been to the park will get it].

Moosh - been a Twizzler for a long time now...

Let's see, here. Either Mamoosh is being really cryptic, or I'm being really dense. I've been to Hershey, and I don't get it.

Edit: Nevermind, I was just being dense. It keeps happening more and more. ;)

Everyone already covered all the reasons why Hersheypark is a great park. It has everything a great amusement park should have, and they have their attractions spread so far apart that even when its crowded the lines aren't too bad.

They have grown right along with the major parks, but at the sametime keeping that good hometown amusement park feel. Of the chain parks I think only Cedar Fair, Busch, and the Orlando parks come close in terms of how well maintained the park is. Just imagine if they gave free soft drinks. ;)

Rather than competing with the chains Herco spends their time planning how to improve their park to make it more enjoyable for their guests. My friend is a ride op, and in her employee handbook they state that their closest competition is the mouse in Orlando. I don't know if I agree with that, but that is how they see it.

As mentioned before with Hersheypark being a family park the only thing they lack in is the need for more exciting flat rides. I'd love to see an S&S tower, or a Top Spin, but I don't think that will happen. They do have a Chaos, so you never know. There have been a lot of rumors about that. Especially when the Conestoga was down for most of the season. They do still have a wide variety of flats, just not the newer more thrilling ones.

I don't want to repeat what everyone already said, but its hard not to when its such a great park. I am quite happy to have Hersheypark 20 minutes from home. It's one of the greatest home parks an enthusiest could have.

Lightning Racer, and Wildcat are definately great trimless woodies that don't get the props they deserve. Proud season passholder since 1998.

Thanks for all your help. We just made plans and are definetly going.

....crazy suggestion time......How about other parks wising up and realizing that height-checks done first thing upon arrival means fewer PO'd guests who wait in an hour-long line only to find out at the end their kid isn't tall enough to ride.....it's been especially distressing lately, as I've seen several kids wait, get on the train, buckled, lapped, etc.....THEN one of the ops will decide to check the kid's height....

I'm all for checking the height when you enter the queue....every ride has a bar there....but HATE it when a rider is "all set" and then the train can't leave while a rider is removed .....arrrrgggghhh! Just makes the wait longer.....kills capacity....

Also, I don't think people realize how big this place is. They have over 60 rides. The only other place with that many rides, that I'm aware of is CP. Which by the way, would be the only park on earth that would have a slight edge over Hersheypark.

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions

I never paid attention to how many total rides they have at Hersheypark, but then again I was never comparing them to CP. I guess cause CP is the thrill park, and Hershey is the family park. Both of them are great parks. CP has some great steel while Hershey rules with their woodies. Gotta love those GCI's

I am looking forward to my trip to CP in August. Since I have been to Hershey so many times I haven't bothered to write a trip report. I'll make sure to write one for my CP trip.

i have been to hershey park and think that the coasters there are very very good the great bear is very intense to be such a small B&M i went this past june and i thought it was a very clean fun park.
